I'd say that of the three most recognizable modern horror villians (Michael Meyers, Jason, Freddy) Michael Meyers wins because he was the first and Halloween is generally more liked by the critics.
Or maybe I'm smoking something funny...

Question are they gonna rank it by movies
for example
1. Star wars Darth vader and luke sky walker
or
2. Luke skywalker
1. Darth Vader
or
top 50 villians 50-1
and
top 50 heros 50-1
I'm confused.

Hmm..no mention on their website on HOW they are gonna present this. Just says top 50 of each.
I hope it is not a "villain tied to a hero" thing (Skywalker/Vader, etc) as mentioned earlier. That way they could recognize JAWS, but Chief Brody wouldn't HAVE to be on the list.
I like Bond and Vader as #1, but I don't think Bond is "American enough." (In the voter's eyes.) Maybe Indy and Vader?
Side Note : Now you can order all 100 AFI top movies on "quality VHS tapes!" Pluh-ease!

The term Quality VHS, and the fact that everyone now knows about DVDs. I could see how some would want to own all of these films, but why buy on 8-track when you know CDs exist?
Part of a "gotta have it now" society I guess... I would hope (expect) all of these films would make it to DVD soon.

from afi's website
"AFI's 100 Years...100 Heroes & Villains" will countdown America's 50 greatest heroes and 50 greatest villains in film, as chosen by experts of the motion picture community, in a three-hour television event on the CBS Television Network in June 2003. "
So it'll probably go 50. hero, 50 villian 49 hero, and so on.

You cant use Agent Smith, the movie was made too late.
Here's my list of villains not named yet:
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid / Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969)
Dracula / Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)
Sonny / Dog Day Afternoon (1975)
Frankenstein / Frankenstein (1931)
Jules and Vince / Pulp Fiction (1995)
Antonio Salieri / Amadeus (1984)
Just to name a few... btw HAL 9000 was a good choice lol. Definitely one of my favs.

Couple of great villains left off the master list: Jonathan Pryce as Mr. Dark in "Something Wicked This Way Comes" and Emilio Fernandez as Gen. Mapache in "The Wild Bunch".

I'm shocked that Luke Skywalker didn't make the cut but Han and Obi Wan did? And it was imbarrassment to have the horrific acting of Hadyen Christisan as Anikan during the Darth Vader thing.
James Bond was 3.
