ONe of the most psychological scenes I ever saw was in Traffic.
Spoiler:
I still can't watch that scene without cringing. There is something about the way it was shot that made it raw and terrifying.
(Oh, it's chapter 60 on the Criterion Collection edition)

I thought the curb scene from American History X would forever be "that scene" for me, but without question is the rape scene in Irreversible. Nothing has hit me like that scene did. I was absolutely floored. I had to keep telling myself it wasn't real.

I also remember seeing a film adapted from a dutch/south african book about 10 years ago about a kid who grow up to be a boxer, but they had one scene where he was ganged up on by a bunch of kids, and used as their "pisspot" Does anyone remember the title?

I tend to be very leniant when it comes to be able to handle disturbing things in cinema but the rape scene in Once Upon A Time In America is disturbing on SO MANY LEVELS.

Not the most disturbing, but one that always gets me is actually in Sleepaway Camp. It's not actually shown, you can only see the shadow, the part where
That one's pretty rough. The creepy "we call 'em baldies" chef actually makes me rather uncomfortable too.

There was this movie on TV where a (father / uncle? Don't know) was spanking a young teen girl. I found it extremely disturbing because I couldn't stop thinking that that scene was meant to be erotic. It's just something that should never have been filmed.
Maybe someone can help me out.

The last scene in "Pink Flamingos." Divine walks down the street and bends down to admire a dog taking a shit, then promptly scoops up the pile and eats it; even letting it run through her teeth. And then the movie suddenly ends. What a final scene! To this day, I have yet to be more stunned and disturbed while watching a movie.

Untold Story-the murder of the family
Irreversible-the rape scene-very, very disturbing
Cannibal Holocaust I watched this once.Never again. The brutality to the animals was just too disturbing to watch. Why the hell did they kill the animals? They had that amazing FX shot with the girl on the pole. Did they run out of money for FX? I mean there is just no justification for the brutal killing of animals for entertainment. None.
Dead Or Alive- the girl in a tub of shit.
The Exorcist-the masturbation scene(must be the Catholic in me
)
The Devils-The Rape Of Christ scene-cut from the movie, but shown on Ch 4 in a documentary in it's uncut form. Very disturbing.(It's that Catholic thing again).

Perhaps not the most disturbing, but certainly one of the most shocking scenes was in The Long Goodbye when
Came right the hell out of left field.
For disturbing, I'd have to go with most of Seven. Even a couple of the offscreen ones, like Lust with the guy describing
his performance totally sells that scene. Also, pride, where you imagine
in both cases, your imagination comes up with something more horrible than could ever be shown on film. Also, Salo and Man Bites Dog were pretty rough.

I've always thought it was Seven, both Lust and Sloth freaked me out like nothing before or since. Many people walked out crying from the theater in the middle of this movie when I went.

The only movie to really disturb me was Happiness, in which case most of the movie disturbed me.
I'm just not comfortable seeing implied rape and boys jerking it.
Otherwise... can't really think of anything.

That freaked me out to no end. *shiver*
