I recently got to see this (most of it, at least) on a bus ride that just happened to be showing the dvd (the dvd with Thai menus that is, ahem). Anyway, the first couple acts of the film are pretty painful to watch. The acting is pretty stiff and by-the-numbers, and the action sequences interspersed over the first two acts only make it bearable.

Of course, it probably didn't help that the person operating the dvd player zoomed in on the center of the picture, just because there was a smidge of black bars at the top and bottom of the screen, resulting in lost image on all sides of the frame. It was like watching an episode of Muppet Babies, where a character would be talking and you wouldn't be able to see above the neck.

The first transformation of Cage into the Ghost Rider was pretty well-done, what with the face melting bits and all. Didn't get to see the end, but it's easy to guess what happens. In fact, even with the sound barely audible, following along with the film was a cinch. I think that's a plus... right?

My only reason for getting this on dvd when the 2-disc comes out will just be to complete the Marvel comic adaptations.

Anything? Or is it pretty much like what we got in the finished film?

Well it seems there will be an extended cut:

http://www.amazon.com/Ghost-Rider-Ex...0613239&sr=8-2 <--- Blu-Ray

But I've seen no word as to what has been changed/added or how different the running times might be.

Rented this from the $1 box at the grocery and I must say...

Worst. Comic. Adaptation. Ever.

They should have done a Dan Ketch storyline with Blackout.

I just watched Ghost Rider too. I agree that it was garbage, but it is not the worst comic adaption ever. That "honor" goes to either the direct-to-video Captain America movie or the Dolph Lundgren Punisher movie.

The movie was so-so. Special effects were pretty good but Nic Cage was miscast.
