I haven't seen the Dolph version and I won't see this one either...

I like the way they sound in my head when I read the books.

... and none of them sound like John Travolta.

But I wish this movie the best of suck-cess.

Excellent... I am hoping this movie will be in the Blade territory and be good.

R rating alone doesn't mean it will be good. though it will be a nice change then a water down punisher.

Lets see how it goes

The Dolf one was rated R - even had to be cut to get an R... I don't think that made it good, did it? I'm not saying this one will be bad (or good) - I'm just sayin...

While it seems like a given this would have been R, I felt the same way about Spawn...and well, somehow that ended up being pg-13...and bad. Nonetheless, this is a good thing. I mean, it's Punisher...I want some violence! Now let's just hope it's good...not sure who thought Florida would be "gritty," but hopefully that won't hinder the flick.

Yes, because we all know that R-ratings are the seal of quality.

Good, not every movie has to be kiddie-friendly.

yeah I have the unrated Japanese laserdisc edition of this movie and the violence is a tad more graphic. One victim has a knife thrown at his neck slicing it in one ultra-vicious swipe and the blood just sprays - quite cool actually.

Wow . . . you really seem to be excited about the violence . . .

Here . . . maybe this will keep you satisfied until the movie comes out . . .

Oh yeah . . . and for those who want boobies, too . . .

And here comes the brigade of "R != better." The point is that the Punisher character from the comic books should translate to an R rating on the big screen. No ifs, ands, or buts.

While I don't think an R rating will be any indication of quality, I was worried they would really "Pussify" the Punisher...and if it's got an R, hopefully that means they didn't Pussify it.

is it too much to hope that it will be either samantha mathis or rebecca romijn are the ones that constitute the "brief nudity"?

Just because it's R doesn't mean it will rock. While I like Thomas Jane as an actor, this movie is really straying too much from the source to grab my attention.

IMO, Jane's interpretation of the character will make or break this movie.

I am also a tad excited to be seeing this since Will Patton is returning to the screen.
