Most overrated movie?

Is it me?
Two pages of posts and not one person has mentioned The Thin Red Line?
Pretentious, confusing, underlit, overshot, with an all-star cast reduced to two-minute cameos, and with lead actors so completely indistibuishible from each other that at one point my date and I turned to each other and said, "Wait a second... isn't that guy supposed to be dead?"
How and why this film garnered seven Academy awards is beyond me.

From: John "57 Varieties" Kerry represents me in the US Senate.
My unoriginal choices:
LOTR: Fellowship... - Found it decent-to-pretty-good when I saw it in the theater, but saw it again at home and it was almost *painful* to sit through.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - Totally underwhelming. For fantasy action, I much preferred Ninja Scroll (a cartoon!).
The English Patient - Embodies everything I hate about "art films."
Magnolia - Ditto. But a million times worse. And I liked Boogie Nights (same director)!

The Godfather trilogy.
It never involved me emotionally, it never felt exciting or like gripping drama unfolding, or anything else that would make me rate it highly. It's just an overlong, slow story about murderous scum that takes too long going nowhere very interesting.
other nominees:
- Citizen Kane
- 2001, Space Odessey
- Casablanca
- Magnolia

Memento. Other than the nonlinear time, which isn't at all hard to grasp having read Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five and way too many comic books, it's pedestrian. And the character with the memory problem is able to remember that he has a memory problem. Good acting though.

I've just got to know, out of curiosity, what your 5 most favorite or your most most UNDERRATED movies are?
I've just got to know, out of curiosity, what your 5 most favorite or your most most UNDERRATED movies are?
- Brazil
- Leon, The Professional
- Three Colours: Blue
- Moulin Rouge
- Lord of the Rings
- Dark City
- Amelie
- Fifth Element
- Twelve Monkeys
- Trainspotting
As for movies that should've received wider acclaim ..
- Legend of 1900
- Great Expectations (1998) (w/ Gwyneth Paltrow & Ethan Hawke)
- Quills
- Human Traffic
- Lolita (1997)
(I'll easily defend these choices over my list of most overrated movies.)

Don't see it mentioned here yet... but The Royal Tenenbaums was a huge waste of time, in my opinion.
I really don't see how people could rave so much about how 'funny' this movie was.
I like a wide range of films, and am really into independant films in the past few years, and I thought Tenenbaum's cast was superb, but the material.... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I'm shocked!
