There's plenty of crappy anime out there... but my guess is that you haven't seen much outside of those 3 films. Anyway - that opinion is the popular one... most people think anime is stupid.

I liked that movie - but in my defense, I saw the original 2 hour cut of that film as a test screening audience. The one in theaters was less than an hour and a half.

Me too.The R-rated version of Pearl Harbor is the true version of the film.

Well i didn;t read all 100+ replies. So i don't know if these were mentioned or not..but here are a few of my picks

Vertigo..absolutely boring as hell.I've tryed to 'like' the film & give it a few chances. Each time i was bored out of my mind(even fell sleep sometimes!) & just don't see whats so great about it.I love other Hitchcock films thought like Rear Window,North By Northwest & Psycho all of which are more entertaining & interesting than Vertigo.

The Godfather part 2...overrated borefest. The only good part that was interesting was Robert De Niro's segment as a young Don Corleone.Otherwise i was not interested in the film at all & severely let down..after the awsome original which was just amazing & highly entertaining.

Lawrence of Arabia...zzzzzzzzzz zzzzz zzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzz...i fell alseep trying to watch this film.Just was incredibly boring as well.Overrated in my honest opinion & that opinion still stands upon viewing bits of the film on TCM recently including seeing the ending.

2001...despite some impressive FX that still look great today & some great classical music which helps liven the film up durring the one portion it plays. The film is a incredible bore in just about every aspect.

Pearl Harbor...fun epic cheesefest. Some people take films alittle to seriously!

Armageddon & The Rock^^^^^^^^^^^

I Spit on Your Grave...classic rape revenge film that gets no respect. Put The Accused to shame in how it truely doesn't pull any punches with the portrayal of rape & doesn't cop out like most Hollywood films which get preachy & over-dramatic like The Accused pretending to be a daring drama.Don't get me wrong The Accused is a ok film, but it has Hollywood written all over it,which takes away from the drama.

Porky's if your going to make a sex comedy. This is how it's done! American Pie which is a drama masquerading as a sex comedy fails in all aspects of being a sex comedy by taking itself way to seriously!

Saving Private Ryan...Spielberg is very overrated.Other than a harrowing opening & ending sequence. The film has that Spielberg touch of manipulation all over it which takes away from the film.

Deep Red...the long 126mn version is a huge drag. The short version rules!

Titanic..actually is a very good well made film with good story & impressive FX.It's not boring at all & keeps my attention throughout.

The Blair Witch Project...pure crap!

American Psycho...movie is horribly dumbed down in the extreme & caters to those who hate the novel. The novel on the other hand is a masterpiece!

The Rules of Attraction...best film of 2002!

Star Wars:Ep 1 & 2....pathetic! Bad looking CGI is overused in place of any attempt at a interesting story.Makes film excruiatingly boring & nothing special.
Not looking forward to Ep3 & have no intentions on every owning the dvds. Now the original versions of the original trilogy on the other hand i would purchase since they are everything the new trilogy is not!.Yet you know how stupid, greedy & insecure Lucas is.

The movie Spider-Man actually wasn't really good at all, nothing was spectacular about it. They really spent their money for nothing, i still can't belive LOTR's costs were less than Spider-Man's.

1941...underrated comedy classic! Way better than it's given credit for.

Disturbing Behavior...one of the better teen horror/thrillers released durring the late 90's teen boom severely hurt by studio editing trying to take it's audience for idiots & cutting out all the substance.A restored director's cut would most likely change peoples opinions on it.

Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade...seems to be the least favorite in the series.Yet the interaction between Ford & Connery is terrific & makes for a fun ride.

Grease 2..again people seem to take films alittle to seriously. A great camp classic..& btw the original is just as corny as this.Yet people act like it's a masterpiece!

Species 2...terrific camp classic comedy.Loosen up & enjoy the exploitive ride already!

Showgirls...another camp classic that people were dumb enough to at least pretend to take it seriously & therefore tear it apart.

Reservoir Dogs...Tarantino's best film.Pulp Fiction was good but not as great as people make it seem!

Bound..a masterpiece of suspense, thrills & loaded with style & energy to spare.Miles better than the Wa-whatever there names are Brothers next film The Highly Overrated Matrix

Dracula 1931...boring!

Bram Stoker's Dracula...incredible!!!

Superman 2...overrated & not even close to being better than the original!

XXX & Fast And The Furious...crappy mindless action at it's worst or at least, less interesting/fun.

Death Wish 3..mindless outrageous action at it's best

The Wizard of Oz...highly annoying!

Aliens..good movie but not better than the original.

Terminator 2..ok but nowhere near as great as the original which kicked major ass & was exhilerating!

Moscow on the Hudson..a classic with a actually good Robin Williams performance(he's usually very obnoxious)..+ i loved the other charecters as well.

The Exorcist...not the scariest film ever made..but still pretty good.

Halloween...overrated in the it started the slasher genre & is the best ever by wannabe film historians. It is a great movie & very scary..but it's not the first slasher ever made.Go see Black Christmas which it borrows alot from among others which came first.

Assault on Precint 13...one of Carpenter's best that seems to be largely forgotten by many.

Over The Edge...one of the greatest teen rebellion films ever made is severely underrated & not well known.

River's Edge..the greatest film ever made about teen angst!

Rebel Without A Cause....very outdated & soap operaish to be taken as realistic.Still it is a great film...yet for real teen angst.River's Edge beats this one out of the water!

Die Hard With A Vengeance...the last truely great American action film ever made. The genre seems to have gone downhill since & even mindless stuff like XXX can't save it since they have no heart & are just generic crap done without any care whatsoever.

The Deer Hunter..seems to be disliked by many today who find it boring & pointless.I think it's a masterpiece & very powerful film. One of the rare times a film actually deserving of a award won..unlike most nominated today & every other year.

Sophies Choice...not as great as people made it sound.

Frankie & Johnny 1991...very underrated sweet romantic drama.

Lilies of the Field...terrific comedy drama with a great cast of charecters & all around good time. Yet seems to be largely forgotten.

Psycho 2..just as good as the original if not even more frightening.A very rare feat for a sequel, especially one made 20+ years after the original.

Salvador...extremely powerful Oliver Stone film that is largely underrated.

Platoon...pretty overrated with not so great acting & just seems so staged rather than spontaneous making it seem unreal..as opposed to real like people claim it is.

Full Metal Jacket...better than Platoon in terms of realism.Incredible film that pulls you in & never lets go until the end.The standoff with the sniper at the end is harrowing. Yet this is largely underrated & only given credit for the training in the first half.Yet the whole film is haunting & entertaining.

ya know that's YOUR opinion of the movie, I saw it differently. "Smart film"...jeez, more like smart asses. All those characters spoke liked they just wanted to hear themselves speak. It wasn't hilarious, it was grating, pompus and your holier than thou opinion is not going to change mine.

idk, i found it to be a very capable/ and insightful/ true, interestingly smart film that goes into the mind of that type of "entertaining" situation. i can understand that it is movie not 'accepted' or to be enjoyed by all... just an opinion. you gotta look into the meaning behind everything, the movie is very deep and is one capable of taking deep thought, it's VERY interesting, i really enjoy it...

Mamoru Oshii's Avalon - what a let down, so overhyped and just plain vapid

Shiri - again the advance word didn't prepare me for such a forgettable movie.

Audition - the first hour bored me to sleep.

O Brother Where Art Thou? - was this supposed to be funny cause I didn't laugh

Laws of Gravity - there's a point during a movie, when all the characters start just yelling and being nasty to one another and ya just don't care anymore, this movie was it. No redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Your Friends and Lovers - Like "Law of Gravity" all the characters had dialogue that was stuck on monotany and gutter speak. This movie was unbearable. I have never been to a movie where so many people walked out on it. I remember at the end a remaining few couples where like "WTF was that?" "What were the Washington Post film critics smoking when they praised this film?"

Adaptation - great beginning premise and just went downhill to a disappointing ending. (ugh)

I'm not even an anime fan, but i've seen more than three anime films and none of them were the same.
Try "Spirited Away", "Princess Mononoke", "Blood the Last Vampire" or "Grave of the Fireflies".

Fight Club - WTF was that whole Jack was Tyler crap? DUH! Tyler was portrayed by Brad Pitt, Ed Norton was Jack.

Memento - Color, then black and white? WTF? Kept maxing out the credit cards and had to switch to cheaper developing?? And WTH was that with him forgetting stuff. He remembered where his polaroids always were, right?

Star Wars Trilogy - utter crap until Lucas saved the trilogy with the Special Editions. I always knew Han was slow on the draw and Greedo would have owned him.

Kevin Smith is a visual direction master, easily on par with Kurosawa and those kids that did Blair Witch Project.

The Academy Awards is a complete mockery of the industry and a joke. I mean, c'mon. Shakespeare in Love winning over Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo?? And where is the Oscar for Yahoo Serious for his riveting dramatic portrayal of Albert Einstein??

And how could Robin Williams win an Oscar in a movie written by an oil driller turned astronaut and a gay serial killer who ride horses and like to play golf?

A.I. was a depressing art house flick until Spielburg fixed it.

Schindler's List and Raiders of The Lost Ark should be boycotted because of it's negative portrayal of Nazis.

And on a final note, Ben Affleck and J.Lo are beautiful people truly in love and are destined to be together.

... ow, my head hurts!

Oh I didn't mean "for nothing" in that sense, sure they did make a sh*t load of cash. I just meant that I was watching a documentary/futurette on Spider-Man, and there were shots where Raimi said "I wanted to use a special effect for this shot, but we were short on money, so I couldn't. I ended up doing that instead.". So me and my friends were discussing about that, the movie cost them 130$ million (plus 50$ million in marketing, which comes up to 180$...for a two hour movie), and now they're telling us that they couldn't do minor effects because of money issues??!? Might be just me, but the movie seemed dry, and low budgeted, in comparison to LOTR: The Two Towers and LOTR, which cost "only" 94$ million (and "only" 45$ million in marketing, which comes up to 139$...for a 3 hour movie!). So what I meant by "for nothing" was that they must've somewhat badly budgeted the money, if they couldn't include "necessary" elements they wanted in the production costs. I'm not sure if you're a true Spider-Man fan, or if you've read the comics, but there were so many elements lacking, which would've made the story more coherent, but Sony's answer to that was "not enough time, not enough money".

Agree. I thought Spiderman looked cheap and cheesy. And the story and acting weren’t great either. Next to Speilberg, Rami is one of the most overrated directors in Tinseltown.

Fargo was not funny. Not entertaining. The accents are ludicrous, the characters did nothing for me, yawn yawn yawn. The Hot Chick is better. So is Sorority Boys for that manner.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was the best of the trilogy by far.

The Harry Potter movies are better than the Lord of the Rings movies.

American Beauty? Terrible script saved by great cinematography and a few okay performances (Except Bening, who was horrid in this).

Dark City is nice eye candy, but it's not a movie.

The Maltese Falcon. One of the most boring movies ever to be deemed a 'classic'.

The Bourne Idendity? How about The Boring Identity? It was way too predictable and the chase scene sucked.

Penelope Cruz looks like a man.

Equilibrium: blah

Monty Python's Life of Brian: blaher

Dogma...now there's a great movie.

Casino is better than Goodfellas.

I agree with you about 1941. Great movie, and damn....Nancy Allen was SO good-looking back then.

Movies I Hate:
Memento
Blair Witch Project
Fast And The Furious
Just about any Kevin Smith film.

....and I think that 2001: A Space Oddessy is pure genius.

Any Takashi Miike movies. This guy wait until he has one or two good ideas and rushes out to build a 2 hours movie around them filled with pedestrian scripts, cliches, and heaps of inane and mundane materials! No wonder he can make 4 or 5 movies in a year.

His films depress me. It feels like watching a very talented individual forced to work in an assembly line but he enjoys it because he's too lazy to break free. Quantity over quality, for sure.

His movies are: Dead or Alive, Visitor Q, Ichi The Killer, Audition, The City of Lost Souls, ... (on and on and on)
