Yes, someone please explain IN DETAIL what happened on Letterman.

I know the brief details. Crispin came out on stage dressed up, and Crispin kicked Dave in the face! Dave walked off stage and Crispin didn't get interviewed and wasn't allowed on the show for awhile. I would love to see this! Anyone know of a site on the net that might have this footage?

Glover shocked the masses on July 28, 1987, during an appearance on the David Letterman Show. He made his entrance dressed like a lunatic, complete with a wig and platform shoes. As Dave tried to engage Glover in some small talk about his acting career, Glover decided to spout some gibberish about people who were out to get him and then he tried to kick the befuddled host in the head - a narrow miss that wiped the smug grin off of Dave’s face. The stressed-out producers quickly went to a commercial and escorted Glover out of the studio.

Found that on a site... that's wicked. I must say it's nice to see crispin glover getting some more good movies. I am psyched as hell to see this movie and can't wait at all for it. The look on his face in one scene of the trailer where his face is sheet white and he has a scowl that would make you run for your life is genius.

I'll post a couple of screenshots of his psycho form here in a minute

I guess then that I'm in the minority. I laughed out loud when I saw the trailer. I was waiting for the Energizer bunny to go across the screen or something, because the movie looked fake.

saw this trailer over the weekend and thought that if ever there were a role written for Crispin Glover, this is it. I've always thought the original fell pretty flat - but this could definately redeem a perfectly creepy story.....looking forward to it for sure.

Gotta agree, Glover is a perfect choice for this part.

As for his Late Night appearance--as I remember it, he did have the really long hair (I didn't get the impression it was a wig though), and talked at length about some work he'd done in a Barnes & Barnes music video (you know--the group who recorded the classic "Fish Heads."). Dave tried to ask him about whatever movie he was promoting at the time, and Glover became more and more agitated, and started telling Dave about "how strong he was." He stood up and sort of flexed and bleated, "See? I'm strong! Stronnnnnng!" Then he started doing karate kicks, and as reported, narrowly missed Dave's head. Dave said something like "Ok, that's it," and walked off camera. They cut to a commercial, and when they came back, Glover was gone. I remember wondering if it was real or something similar to the Andy Kaufman stunt, which also happened on Letterman. Then a week or 2 later I remember Dave had Glover back on, to "explain what happened." Glover was much more restrained the second time, but Dave still looked pretty tense & uncomfortable. I figured the second appearance was to appease Glover's publicists & their lawyers, who didn't want their client looking too nutty.

He looks a lot like Dwight Frye from Dracula in the trailer. I wonder if it's intentional.

Well, no duh. I was refering to my opinion that the movie looked fake, as in a SNL skit or a commercial for Orkin.

I think that's part of the appeal of the movie. It's cheese, schlock, whatever you want to call it. And it looks like a lot of fun. Scary? Only if you're afraid of rats. Hammy overacting? With Glover and Ermey, most definitely. I expect it to get horrid reviews but I don't care, I want to see it. I agree that Crispin Glover was born for this role.

I caught the trailer on E! Coming Attractions last week, and it looks great! It's too bad the original hasn't made it to DVD yet.

And before someone starts complaining about it only being rated a PG-13 horror movie, just remember the original was only PG.

I was surprized when I got the e-mail announcement about this one that is was PG-13. As I was reading it I was sure it would be an R.

My son and daughter are both excited to see it and if I win a pass to the advance screening they are going to be fighting over who gets to go with me.

Bumppity bump.

Been seeing the commercials for this movie lately and they look great. Glover really creeps me out. It looks pretty good.

Am I the only one who thinks that "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" was about the most godawful, predictable song choice they could have made for the trailer? It turned me off to the movie immediately.

Thankfully, the only preview I'm seeing lately is the slower-paced one with that slow song, with the female singer...now that preview really makes me want to see the movie. That song really makes it seem like a warped, offbeat kind of film. Just my type.

Look at one of the reviews for this book:
Reviewer: Kieran Mahon (see more about me)
This is more than a book. It's as if God Himself decided to reach-down from above and create a tome of enlightenment, one illustrated-page at a time. BRILLIANT. Buy two copies and leave one in yr local hotel's dresser-drawer. You'll be glad you did.

This movie does look very good...

Casting Crispin Glover in this role may be one of the BEST casting choices made in the last 25 years

Lee Ermey in a ridiculous wig. Forget Matrix Recycled. This is my most anticipated flick of the year.
Saw the flick earlier this week. It really is a gem of a remake. Actually, the newer trailers with Jacko's "Ben" theme are much closer to the overall tone of the film. I also interviewed the great R. Lee Ermey about his role, so look for that in my next column. Great stuff. I highly recommend the picture. Should make for a fantasic disc, as I got the feeling scenes were trimmed to get a PG-13. Besides Wong/Morgan really buy into the test screening thing (a la Final Destination).
