this is funny, cause i don't see anything in these screenshots you guys post... but i appreciate the sentiment... i asked someone at work(a movie theatre) and they explained he was dyin' and that the whole 'seeing clooney at the wedding' was a flashback/dream if you would... so i get it now, clooney is dead... thank you.

I agree with the most of you....that Clooney gives an impressive directorial debut and Kaufmans' script is well done. Sam Rockwell gives a very good performance at showing craziness of Chuck Barris and the supporting cast do well too.
I thought the cinematography, editing, and music also help make Confessions of a Dangerous Mind stand out from a lot of films of 2002 and the film was funny too. But overall the movie is not a great movie, but sure is a well made unique one.

He was in Stephen King's Thinner. Robert John Burke is his name.
In real life, Barris hired an unknown actor to play the guy who tells them to tone it down.

on another note:
No Oscar nominations. Oh well, they mean nothing to how good a film is.
Although this film should have at least received a nomination for Best Cinematography. Man, the camera work in this film was great.

WOW, what a movie!!! I ended up missing and missing it, and as it was just about to leave wide release in my area, I caught it Thursday afternoon and I"m blown away! It's playing about an hour away from me, and I'm already making plans to go again! Clooney is most impressive, and while ever choice doesn't always work, you'll never confuse them with conventiality, and a failed or a flawed choice in the name of risk and something new is fine by me. Rockwell is a whirling dirvish, and this COULD be the movie that puts him on the A-list. He's up there with Johnny Depp right now as a modern day chameleon. Roberts and Barrymore are passable and pedestrian. I think the cameo's COST this picture Oscar appeal, as I think voters may have written this one off as an early Ocean's Twelve. I saw it with 3 other people in the theater, and one walked out 20 minutes into it(and he'd waited with me in an empty theater for 25 minutes for the thing to start). I know it'd never be everyone's cup of tea, and I can't think of one nominee that it's BETTER than in any given category(perhaps just as good in a few), but this will be a movie I watch over and over. Good stuff from Soderlooney.

Finally got the DVD as a Christmas present and was very happily surprised by how good this was.
I thought the last half hour was a little long - the paranoia scenes were unnecessarily explanative, so the editing could've been a bit tighter, but this is a minor quibble.
Obviously Clooney has the stuff, and Kaufmann proves once again why good screenwriters are worth their weight in gold (although are rarely paid that much).
