Re: Alec Baldwin Career Highs (and Lows)

I was wondering why no one mentioned The Departed...then I noticed this thread was from 02.

He was amazing in "The Cooler". I liked him on "The Aviator" too but i love everything bout that movie so who knows.

Also he is the best thing on "30 Rock"

Best:
The Departed (his lines at the golf range are golden!)
The Getaway (I love this film and you CANNOT beat a sweaty Alec!)
HFRO
30 Rock (any line about his hair I find funny)
Glengarry Glen Roos (don't you wish you had that kinda presence at your job?)
Worst
State and Main.

True, The Cooler was great and Baldwin got his only Oscar-nomination (for supporting actor) from this.

Do you think it was a culmilative Oscar (the kind they give when an actor has done a great body of work, regardless if the film in question is truly Oscar material)? He was really good in it, but not where it was like the best acting he's ever done.

I still think his best performance was in Miami Blues. In the novel the character is described as a "blithe psycopath", and Baldwin got it just right.

I really liked him as Dane Cook's dad in My Best Friend's Girl, very funny, and a really good movie.
