That scene in "Malice" (not a plot give-away) where Baldwin and Pullman are at the bar.

Baldwin: "What if they gave you a million dollars for...for just the first joint off your pinkie finger. Would you do it?"

Pullman (considering): "No. Would you?"

Baldwin (pretending to consider, then lying): "No." Then they both laugh at the very idea.

Buster, if you offered me half that sum, I'd give you the whole damn finger!

As a huge SHADOW fan, I must say he did the role justice. A very good movie.

I disagree with his politics, and am still waiting for him to move out of the U.S.

From: A little bit here and a little bit there.
highs: His theater work, strong supporting parts in glengarry glen ross & malice. His performance in miami blues.
Not getting stuck in those silly clancy sequels.

lows: Not listening to the moral of the story to "the marrying man", that is, Bad things will happen when you marry kim bassinger.

That was great! Is this skit, or others with Alec, included on any of the released DVD's of SNL?

His best were Malice and Glengarry Glen Ross. And I loved the "schweaty balls" sketch on SNL as well.

Unfortunately, this skit is not, however he is in a couple of skits on the "BEST OF" dvd's for Chris Farley, Mike Myers and Phil Hartman.

My favorite Alec Baldwin films:

The Hunt for Red October
Heaven's Prisoners
Malice
The Edge (with Anthony Hopkins): a very pleasant surprise - I thought - when I first caught it in theaters (only checked it out because I had some spare time on my hands, glad I did).

Career High: His episode of The Simpsons. I just love the jokes regarding Hollywood in this episode.

"And this time it's personal! What? It is personal! He's got our UNDERPANTS!"

"Alec, Alec. Regarding that so-called silent propulsion system in The Hunt for Red October. I printed off a list of technical errors I think you might like to discuss."

"Gee, I'd really like to but I'm not really wearing the right shoes"

Almost every line in this episode is friggin' hilarious.

As much as I despise the man's politics, he is a good actor.
Was`nt he the one who promised to leave the country if the republicans won a few years ago? His politics dont surprise me though as 99% of all the Hollywood actors are Liberals. I agree, he is a hell of a good actor though!

First of all, Baldwin did not turn down the role of Jack Ryan for future Clancy adaptations. They could not agree on terms ($$), so the producers opted to go with Harrison Ford.
I was under the impression that he DID turn it down in order to do The Shadow

Now hold up a minute. I'm not a big Clancy fan, but I do know that his novels are not in chronological order. For example, the Jack Ryan in "Clear and Present Danger" was older and more experienced (played by Harrison Ford), while the Jack Ryan in the most recent "The Sum of All Fears" was new to the fold and wet-behind-ear (as Mr. Myagi would say) - played by Ben Affleck. Now, Alec Baldwin wouldn't have been suited to play in "Clear and Present Danger" because he's too young (or he was then). And Baldwin certainly couldn't have played Ryan in "Sum" because he's (now) too old.

So it really is a moot point about Alec Baldwin continuing on in the Clancy novels.

I guess. Frankly, if I let politics bother me too much I'd never get to watch anything.
I disagree with a lot of actors and actresses when it comes to politics and religon and i never let it influence my taste in there films. Except when it comes to Alec Baldwin. He makes me wanna puke just looking at him.
But Glengarry Glen Ross was definitly great for everyone that was is in it

Homer:*gasp* Billy Baldwin!
Alec: I'm ALEC Baldwin!

Whenever he hosts SNL, you can count on a least one really good performance. Flipping through, I caught him doing a startlingly accurate Charles Nelson Reilly for an Inside the Actor's Studio skit.

Didn't mean to touch a nerve.
BTW: Clancy thought that Ford was too old to play Ryan in the subsequent film (Patriot Games).

Miami Blues is his best, but I'm surprised nobody mentioned his great turn as Jimmy Swaggart in Great Balls of Fire.
