Re: Did anyone enjoy the movie "Femme Fatale"?
Loved this flick. Did this get a BD release somewhere? I know the BD has not been released in the states. I know it's on VUDU, so worst case scenario I'll get the HDX version.

If you don't find your answer maybe try in International or HD Talk.

I love it too, then again I'm a big Brian De Palma fan. Except for a couple of flubs, his filmography from Sisters onward is IMO pretty solid.

I've liked all of his flicks there in bold that I've actually seen.

Re: Thoughts on De Palma's FEMME FATALE
Over 20 years later, someone here finally agrees with me!!!
Threads like this kind of get me all nostalgic. I miss that time of my misspent youth where I actually had the time to make several posts regarding a movie during my workday because I had so little important stuff going on in my life that arguing over something like the quality of a movie like this meant something. Looking at my comments, I can't believe I was that shallow, but I guess that's mid 20s vs late 40s for you.
Looking back on some of them, I actually take back what I said about Untouchables, Body Double, and even the first Mission:Impossible. In fact, it's amazing how much of his signature style he was able implement in the first M:I movie. As for this one, I can take it or leave it, but I honestly haven't seen it in over 20 years. Maybe I need to revisit with a more mature mind and see what I think.

Re: Thoughts on De Palma's FEMME FATALE
I recently rewatched the first M:I as well and came to the same conclusion. Lots of shots that were obviously De Palma. I was surprised how "Hitchcockian" it seemed and was surprised I never picked up on that before. I was also thinking how hit-or-miss he is for someone who has made some really great films. Femme Fatale would NOT be on my Top 5 De Palma list.

I think DePalma is kind of comparable to Ridley Scott. Give him a movie with a decent script and he can make something pretty impressive. Give him a crappy script and his style over substance approach is all that remains.

I finally got around to watching Sisters after reading Tarantino’s Cinema Speculation. I enjoyed it quite a bit!
Good gritty early De Palma with his wonderfully inventive camera work!

hahahaha. So close. I blind bought the Shout Factory Blu-Ray because I’d been enchanted by quite a few Depalma films bought blind. For the most part I’m always a happy customer. The only Depalma I blind bought that was even worse was Raising Cain. A career worst performance by John Lithgow.
