Alien is, I think, the best trailer
Reason: It showed nothing of the movie, but gave you an idea what kind of movie was going to be, and made you want to see it.
It's not as exciting on the DVD, but it was really cool at the movies.

I loved one for the Minus Man. The DVD contained two-one was a conventional one, but the other dealt with a couple's reactions to the film. It alone is enough to justify a rental (although the movie was good too).
My other favorite trailer/teaser of all time is The Shining (that still gives me chills whenever I think about it) and as far as ones I've seen in the theater I'd have to go with Unbreakable.

For a trailer that starts out focusing on an actor and not the film itself, one that I always enjoy is Replacement Killers for Chow Yun Fat. ... the voice over says something like ... "in cinemas around the world ... where action is nearly a religion ... one man is their leader "... something something ... anyhow ... check it out.

Disney Trailer
Disney (animated)Trailers usually suck, but several Disney titles, including House of Villains have a trailer for the upcoming "Treasure Planet".

I love the Pink Flamingos trailer. Not a second of footage from the movie in it, just interviews of dazed people who just got out from a screening.
The Seinfeld movie "Comedian" trailer that mocks trailers is also a great one.

Alien by far is the greatest trailer ever.
though as was stated above the trailer for 'the comedian' is excellent
trailers should not give away the plot of a film, they should be made to make you wonder what is to happen. Most modern day trailers tell you everything that will happen in the film.

The unbreakable trailer does kick ass, and I love the Friday the 13th part 2 trailer. They give up every thing almost. I like the new Red Dragon trailer, but I am worried that the movie is going to be as bad as hannibal.

My favorite trailer was Pearl Harbor (it made a disappointing movie look very sweet). However, it is now the theatrical trailer to Black Hawk Down. Just a very nice trailer.

I'm gonna go with Pearl Harbor as well. I was so jacked for the film b/c I just KNEW Hollywood was gonna give us a historical blockbuster epic on a period of history that just fascinates me...thanks alot boys!
Also, the Chicken Run trailer on the Gladiator DVD is pretty funny, too.
The LOTR trailers on Rush Hour 2 are pretty good as well.
I never saw the Unbreakable trailer...anyone got any info where I could locate that? Thanks.

I loved the Scorpio version of Episode I. Fan filmed bootleg of the first showing of the teaser trailer. People were going nuts. I remember downloading it off www.countingdown.com (I believe) at work and there must have been 30 people around my desk watching it.

I absolutely love the Dark City trailer. The score and the shots shown are great, and give a really eery feeling to the movie. The trailer is the only reason I ever checked the movie out, and ending up loving it.

I remember really liking the Pearl Harbor trailer in the theaters, however, did anyone notice that they changed the music for the teaser trailer when they put it on dvd? The trailer originally gave me chills as I watched it, mainly due to the haunting score from Hans Zimmer's Thin Red Line score. However, the music was replaced by some other, less moving music, for the dvd trailer. Was anyone dissapointed as much as I was by this? I'm glad that I still have the original trailer saved on some cd somewhere.

The one that immediately jumps to mind is Hard Boiled. It's just three minutes of solid badass action from the movie. I've probably watched it more than the movie itself.
I'm also very fond of the Full Frontal trailer where it's just black with monlogues over it, but I seem to be the only one. Of course, you could say the same thing about the movie

Time Bandits--
"No expense has been pared... Spared!"
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (Teaser)--
Ford + Fedora + Staple Gun
Oh, and, of course:
Hitchcock's introduction to Psycho--
'Nuff said.
