I'm not sure if it is eligible, but I am voting for Blade Runner, The Director's Cut. It did not come out in 1982, but the bastardized version did. This would be like voting for the studio release of Brazil. It's just not the same film.

Bladerunner for its excellent use and twist of the Film Noir genre would definately lead the list. I just am not a big Spielburg fan, his films are plenty enjoyable, but lack the oomph that better films have. Bladerunner is certainly the best Ridley Scott has done(and this is assuming we are talking about the directors cut, the theatrical realease was much different and lost a lot that Scott put into the directors cut).
If not, then I have to go for Tootsie which is one of my all time favorite comedies.

There's a lot of animosity towards Spielberg on this forum, and his endless schmaltz can get on my nerves too. But I think E.T. is genuinely heartwarming and represents movie magic better than just about anything else. Give it my vote.

Just saw it again recently uncensored..Murphy and Nolte had great chemistry..
It showed promise for the young Murphy b4 he went and ruined his career with one crappy movie after another..
Ps Exception being "Beverly Hills Cop 1+2" + "Nutty Professor "

E.T's a bit farther in the lead now, but not enough to call... and for the record, yeah, Blade Runner D/C is counted with the theatrical cut (at least for this poll!)
1) E.T. (25 votes)
2) Blade Runner (19.5)
