Yep. Except you can't USE the gift card the same day you purchase it. Makes great sense there FYE.

So unless you want to make a separate trip, you will have to pay the $5 preorder reserve with some other payment source and when you pay the balance for the $49.99 plus tax price minus the $5 plus tax you already paid to hold it, (which in my case should come to about $47.76) you will still be left with a small amount on your $50 gift card (in my case $2.24) and your $10 gift card to put towards the purchase of the next after rebate deal they have.

After all the sales tax and stamp to mail the rebate, it will be closer to $28.99 total for the Star Wars set.

I was able to use both the $50 and the $10 GC the day I bought them - less than 10 minutes after the fact - and preordered Star Wars with both ($53.50 to pay it in full). I also was able to use credit to pay for some of the GC. But thats YMMV.

you don't want to pay for it in full cuz then you can't qualify for the rebate. For the rebate, you need to purchase it within the specified dates which is the day it comes out to 2 weeks after that date.

Strawberries

Passion of the Christ 19.99 + tax - $5 MIR
Twisted 19.99 + tax - $5 MIR
Lion King 2, Simba's Pride 19.99 + tax - $5 MIR
Star Trek,TOS 104.99(no rebate)

didn't see any new preorder info, also LK2 has a Disney $4 MIR if you own a prior version(didn't look too closely at the details, but it's an on pack sticky if you're interested).

FYE in Tysons Corner Center (Northern Virginia) is selling The Passion for $22.99 - $5 MIR. They have two rebate forms. A $10 one for orders placed before (I believe) 07/14/2004 and a $5 one for everyone else. Mine was one of the stores that didn't raise the pre-order price when everyone else's did, so when I pre-ordered on 07/28/2004 they still had it on their display as $9.99 AR. I really had to haggle with the guy to sell it to me for $14.99 so it would be $9.99 after MIR like the display promised on the day I pre-ordered it. He said he would lower the price $5 and give me the $5 rebate form. I pointed out that that would only lower the price to $12.99. So after consulting with the manager, he knocked $8 off of the $22.99 price.

Chimpy, do you happen to know if Aladdin will have that rebate for prior VHS purchase? We still have our VHS version and took advantage of the $5 Lion King 1 offer making LK1

I don't know whether Aladdin will have an upgrade rebate, but I would guess that there's a pretty good chance of it, given the prior history. One thing to note though is that this one is $4, most of the prior ones(at least the ones that I have done) have been $5.

The date on the receipt for when I picked it up wouldn't qualify? How would I go about getting the rebate then? Canceling the preorder, getting my $ back, and then going back on release day?

no, basically, you would put $5 down + Tax. Then pay the difference when you pick up the DVD. That difference that you pay will fall within the valid rebate dates assuming you don't wait more than 2 weeks to pick it up.

I would go back to the store, return your fully paid pre-order and tell them that you just wanna put down $5 so you can qualify for the rebate.

so Dabaomb, is the in store rebate differant from the online rebate form? Becouse in the oline rebate it asks for the order confirmation and packing slip.

mike01, in any case you need to send in a UPC symbol.

The B& M stores place another UPC sticker on the cellophane wrapper. This can be used for the rebate rather than cutting the UPC from the case.

Read earlier posts about rebates and that might help you understand what we are referring to.

Thanks for the reply. I guess we'll see later this month. $4 is better than nothing. Still good deal for

At the FYE at Rockefellar Center in NYC, Lion King 2 SE was $21.99 + Tax - $5 MIR

Also, the Garfield pre-order is $14.99 after MIR and it comes with a free plush toy.

Scooby-Doo 2 is either $12.99 or $14.99 after tax but I can't remember which.

Trip to the local FYE tonight, by the way, mine had free gum at the cash register. Mmmmm....free gum.

September rebate deal at FYE will be on Starsky + Hutch and Hellboy. I didn't see prices or rebate form, though if I had to guess they would be similar to the Barbershop2/Secret Window deal it replaces. I agree with Dabaomb, probably wait for the 3 disc Hellboy or the giftset with the mini Hellboy, they're only 6 weeks away.

New FYE coupons(at register). $5 off any other DVD when you buy Hidalgo. $5 off any other DVD when you buy 1 of 6 Winnie the Pooh DVDs or videos(think they had a Halloween theme). If I can locate them, I'll post the details.

I just received them this week. However, the big $20 rebate for 24 Season 2 is still MIA.

I got 2 of my 3 Simpsons and $10 Reno 911! a few days ago, but I just got my $20 24 season 1 rebate today, in an envelope instead of a postcard.

They were a little slow processing one of my Simpsons rebates - ony 2 were showing at rebateshq.com a couple weeks ago, so I had to fax in my copy of the submission and it showed up online shortly afterward.

Edit : I just checked the status, and 2 are saying fulfilled while 1 is still processing.

Only two of my Simpsons rebates ever showed up online, too. But all three checks arrived together this week!

See the first post, Barbershop 2/Secret Window are 22.99 each with a $7 rebate. It's a little different than the other rebates as it seems to have a longer duration. I would guess that these will be the terms for Starsky + Hutch and Hellboy as well.

Both the Hidalgo(expires 9/30/04) and Winnie the Pooh coupons(expires 11/30/04) are for $5 off any DVD regularly priced 14.99 or more, so really not much of a deal unless they go on sale or you were going to buy them anyway.

The Winnie the Pooh videos are: Just Say Boo, Frankenpooh,Spookable Pooh. Frankenpooh/Spookable double pack, Mickey's House of Villains, Rolie Polie Olie Spookie Ookie Halloween(say it 5 times fast).

Also, Scooby Doo 2 preorder now has a sign for 14.99 AR

So is my $20 rebate on 24 S1. And I misplaced (translation: forgot to save the e-mail with) the link to the webpage with the status. Last time I checked the website, everything was fine and it would eventually be sent....

But that was a while back.
