EBay fees would only come to about $3.30 on a $100 item. Given there has already been a cost of $20 to get the crayons, an additional three bucks should be very little (and besides, he might actually buy them back when he realises what a valuable property he let go :) - during the auction, you can email him and thank him for letting the crayons go so cheaply).

If nothing else, the winning "bidder" can paypal you a portion of your real costs in exchange for the fabulous feedback you'll ultimately give each other.

The thing is, this ONLY happens on DVDtalk, and it HAPPENS MORE THAN ONCE.

Eintier gives them back to the original seller, who - faced with a huge potential profit puts them on EBay only to have them not sell.

If he asks, you tell him that his original crayons must have been the "type G" rare crayon set, but the ones that Eintier sent him were just ordinary "type B" crayons.

Perhaps "type G" crayons are more pointy than "type B" crayons, maybe they were just the prototypes, perhaps something else. Either way, he'll never be 100% sure if the crayons he sent out were the same ones he received back.

You could just call them the "type G" ones in the auction. Then he'll see what he stupidly sold so cheaply.

Then he gets it back as payment for shipping and he lists it again as the rare "type G" crayons. Nobody bids.

Oh, how is he going to find that auction?

He probably would not know that this is not the normal approach by Ebay and we could get him to take a look at the auction. But what do we do about sending it? I wouldn't forge an email from EBay - if he did report it to them, you might find yourself in serious hot water.

A much better way to ensure he saw your auction was to send him an email letting him know you'd used the photos he sent you in your resale of the crayons.

You don't have a digital camera, so you're using the shots he sent you, etc. and you just thought you'd let him know etc. You could also hint that your original suspicions [of their value] proved to be correct as they were in fact "type xyz crayons".

From his point of view, you're simply doing him the courtesy of informing him that you're reposting the photos he's sent you and piquing his curiosity.

naughty jonny: Maybe. Not too concerned. But your idea might be the way except that I won the auction but he never sent any pictures to me. And no we will not use Dek's version with the circling.

Buford T Pusser: Yeah it closely followed RandyC finding the original dilator equipment. That was half the horror. He was planning a very festive time. Apparently the gear he had around the house was just not doing it. Got a few bucks and thought he would go pro.

Could always download and repost his original pictures from the first auction - sending an email to him acknowledging their use. If you're looking at really screwing with his mind, it's best not to use Dek's version - more chance of him getting wise to the setup.

An acknowledgment for use of the pictures sounds good.

Of course after he sends the typewriter in exchange for all the really good crap he's getting in return, einTier has to refuse delivery and have it sent back to him.

Of course, we could simply send him all our assorted crap. Given he's a guy who really seems to hate throwing anything out, we could see how long before they appear on EBay (with free shipping).

If he was getting strange stuff from all over America (and the world) he would really start to wonder.
