Wow.. If I had a choice between sleeping in a top bunk and having a nice ride oppose to sleeping in my own house and riding a bike to work. I would pick the bike.
No hobby is worth that much when you convert Pride into dollars. As for your folks asking for money. They have every reason to. Unless you are bringing something BIG into the table, you should be willing to throw them some sort of compensation. As for the Ricing. What the hell kind of priority do you have? Your getting the food before you get the plate to hold it in. You shouldn't go for the extra's before you get the basics. shelter, and I mean shelter you provide for yourself is what you need. As for the sprouting out of money. Frankly 3,000 would go by fast if your living by yourself in a house. paint the back, fix the pipes, wire work, lighting, tables, beds, couch, tv, etc. etc. expensives add up. the amount your spending on the extra's could be used to get the stuff basiclly needed for living. You have a kid and your willing to sleep in a bed that is made for kids? Rather strange. You might be happy, but once reality hits you, I'm sure you will realize there needs to be some major life changes to get you to think about the high cost of living. there are three kinds of folks in the world: Those who make things happen, Those who watch things happen and those who wonder what happened. Which are you? Ah screw it, Your not going to listen, so I might aswell suggest something you might listen to. For all that is sacred, do not put a spoiler on your future "rice mobile" cars with pointless spoilers = teh suckekekekekeke |

Alright, I read a little bit of the first thread and most of this one, and I am chuckling to myself right now. If only I can take out $3000-7000 from my bank to buy a civic, instead of putting 7000 a year into RRSP (401K for you Yanks -wink- )! I need to get my priorities straightened out.
Yes you may have a decent job right now, but dude, in all honesty, why not wait till your probation is up at work to buy **** that you don't really need right now? One year is a LONG time for probation, and I'm assuming that sick days, lates, etc.. will count against you during your reviews. Now lets say you are sick or sleep in some days. Over a course of 1 year, these days can really add up. Trust me about this. At my work we have a 3 month probation, and I have seen a lot of people let go because of their poor attendance. It's best to wait out your probation, and THEN maybe you could get the car you want, or maybe a bigger bunk bed for you, your gf and your brother? :hump: By the way, I would love to soup up my 93 Honda Prelude SRV, but why bother? I already have a pretty gf, and would rather invest my money into positive growth investments, then dump money into something that might last another 5 years, or until I see something else I like. Do you support your kid with child payments?? If so, the mother of your child might ask for an increase in payments, since you will be making more money now. And do you have your own insurance, or through your parents insurance?? My guess would be through your parents, but hopefully I am wrong. |

Originally posted by LX98Civic Yeah, there are MANY people out there who are better off than me. What you are doing is psychologically called "projecting." Check it out. And we don't have 7k in the bank to spend on what we want because we spend it on bills. The more you talk the more I realize how together I have it. Thanks. |

The only thing I can add to this is: pay rent and deal, or leave.
Pretty simple. |

LXCivic, we're not critical of you for living with your parents, and if they were willing to let you live there for free then you would be perfectly justified in your cavalier attitude toward rent. The issue is that they requested rent from you and you became indignant. That is what is so laughable about the situation. You seem to have too much pride to pay more than $100/month to share a room and bunkbed with your brother, but only because they want you to pay for that privilege, not because it is a humiliating situation. Most of us consider it a humiliating situation at any price. Final thought: when you get this new ride, may I suggest the following vanity license plate: TOPBUNK |
Hey Civic.
My question for you is in 20 years when your parents are barely able to walk around the house and need to have their diapers changed five times a day, will you fork over the money to pay for a fulltime nurse to go to their house and take care of them or will you send them to a crappy medicare paid home because you need new pipes on your hybrid? If your parents are willing to allow you to live with them for $100 a month while you save for a house even though you are buying a car for entertainment and not need, then they are some of the most loving parents out there. I know you said you love them dearly, I hope you show your appreciation later in life when they need you to take care of them. What goes around should come around - share the love buddy. |

Originally posted by LX98Civic I love my parents, love the cheap rent :):D , and will love having the h/b & LX. ....Oh, and I'll be checking out a white 93 h/b in the morning which if I like I'll be paying cash :o Bash all you want, but how many of you can actually go withdraw 3k for something you really want? ...Make that 7k, since the motor will be on order a few days after. So - if you KNEW 100% guaranteed your parents weren't happy with you living there for free (or $100 per month) would you then move out or pay more rent? Yes - they're making good money, but you are too. That may be the problem (or part of it). |
