Here's another vote for Murder on the Orient Express and If - both films deserving of some sort of special treatment. I also believe some of the Hammer titles would be popular for SE's. On a personal note, I actually screen tested for Bugsy Malone when I was a kid (I live in England - my pop was in the USAF). Alan Parker visited my school (in Buckinghamshire, near where the movie was filmed) and selected a few of us for tests. I made the first cut and was invited to London for a second test. I didn't make the final cut - but what an experience (I was not then, nor am I now, a professional actor). Alan Parker told us a few great stories.

Put me down for Captain Kronos. Great classic Hammer. This and Horror of Dracula were my 2 favorite Hammers. Should I mention Hammer one more time.

Whatever FOUL PLAY supplemental material Paramount has in their vaults should be dug up for this release.Maybe some Dudley Moore out takes?I don't know if Goldie has done a commentary but she should be a natural.Also i was living in Europe at the time & this movie was HUGE there so there's another reason to spend a little extra on a nice Dvd!

Rather then chime in with yet ANOTHER request for Urban Cowboy and/or Grease, i'd have to go with Foul Play. I don't know what what extras would be available, but whatever Paramount could scrape up would be appreciated. [Outtakes, Trailers, Commentary]

Also, let me echo the sentiments that other DVDTalkers have expressed on this thread Martin and thank you for taking an interest in what DVDphiles [?] :) are interested in.

Hopefully other studios will follow suit.

Not on the list, but I vote for LIL ABNER (1959) as a no-frills catalog title, though in its original Vista Vision glory. It's a superior musical to DARLING LILI--plus it has a Jerry Lewis cameo! :)

In the future, you may also want to consider the Robert Redford film THE GREAT GATSBY (1974), but ONLY if the original music soundtrack is restored. The current version on VHS is an abomination.

All three deserve trailers (not always guaranteed with Paramount) plus commentaries that would be heavy on actor participation since the directors are deceased (Richard Brooks for L4MG and Colin Higgins for FP) or Alan Parker.
As for who should be on those commentaries, Diane Keaton, Richard Gere and William Atherton simply have to be on LFMG. Chevy Chase and Goldie Hawn are generally great together (still can't forget the first Chevy Chase show on Fox) and are needed for FP and it should be hilarious to hear Jodie Foster and Scott Baio compare careers on the B.Malone track. Interactive maps of New York (L4MG) and San Francisco (FP) would also be a big plus.

My votes are:
Murder On the Orient Express I'm not sure but I think an original theatrical featurette exist for this film. This might be held in the archives of Paramount or Studio Canal. Perhaps the disc could also include a text history on Hercule Poirot and a biography of Agatha Christie.

Captain Kronos-Vampire Hunter A commentary could be recorded with Stars Caroline Munro and John Cater: and Writer, Producer and Director Brian Clemens. The track could be moderated by British journalist, writer,and broadcaster Jonathan Sothcott. He has produced documentaries and recorded a number of commentaries for upcoming Hammer films from MGM and Anchor Bay. He can be reached here
The disc could also include a poster and still gallery (Jonathan has a large collection of these) and maybe radio spots. The DVD could also be billed as a 30th anniversary Special Edition since it was released in England in 1973.

Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell This could feature a commentary with Star Shane Briant again moderated by Jonathan Sothcott. The film should also be presented in it's original 99 minute version. I'm sure an uncut print exist in Hammer's vault.

I understand that you have limited resources and frankly I'm glad it won't be a 2-DVD set---a lot of the time that just seems like overpackaging. A reunion with the cast would definately be something interesting, maybe collective interivews or commentary tracks. You could try some type of murder mystery game, along the lines of what they're doing with the new "Memento." Although be careful---that sort of thing can get distracting if it isn't done right.

Now that I have your attention, how about a special edition DVD for "The Hunt for Red October" or "Face/Off?"

Jerry Lewis is one of the last living artists of a great era of movies. He might welcome the opportunity to record a commentary on one of his films.

He wrote a great book on movies and he's very articulate about his works.

I have no preference, but I would definitely want special features for Murder on the Orient Express first priority.

I also want the hammer films plus isn't it about time to release more Elvis films on DVD. Especally LOVING YOU.If any film deserves a Letterboxed DVD that's.
