Sebastian,
I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but I keep getting a CRC error when I try to extract the JPEG from your The Hidden RAR file. Am I doing something incorrectly? I'm using WinAce 2.11 which has had no problems with other RAR files in the past.

Kiss of the Dragon and A.I. are both good canidates for custom covers but I like to own the dvds I make covers for, and since IŽam totally out of any spare money to spend on dvds this might take a pretty long while

From a marketing standpoint, the menu makes sense. These alternative covers are supposed to replace the standard studio covers, so they are for fans of the movies (or haters of snappers). Well since for me the movie always comes first, you probably won't ever see a screenshot of the dvd menu on any of my covers...
Hellbound? Cover's pretty good and works well, but I *really* like the Hellraiser one.
Ok I see
As for Idle Hands, based on your cover, I'm thinking about renting the flick. I saw it in the theater and was pretty disappointed. However, maybe I should give it another chance. After all, if I like it, I'll buy it and then I can use your amazing cover. (I'm serious too. Call me weird.)

OK guys.
Try not to laugh. But, for the past hour or so, i've been trying to create a cover for Willy Wonka. Wait. Create isn't the right word. I scanned the cover and i'm trying to assemble it following mdX's advice on www.dvdcoverart.com.
Now...
I have two problems. One i actually solved [but i'd love to know any easier way to do it. or maybe i'm doing something wrong]. And the other is just plain baffling me.
Lemme start with the hard one.
I'm basically all done with the cover but i'm stuck at the point where mdX says "Now, down convert the image to 300dpi*, and save. You are now ready to print your new cover." I really can't figure out how to down convert the file. Right now it's 19.9m. But, most covers i've seen are around 3-5m. What am i doing wrong?
The other problem is pasting the front/back cover onto a separate document. For example. mdX says to single out the front/back cover. resize it, then paste it onto your template. Well, i don't have a template for a DVD cover so i just create a document with the insert measurements. Now when i paste any particular item into the document/template, it's way too big and doesn't fit.
I know it's probably me, but i'm at wits end about the down converting.
Thanks. Any help would be appreciated.
Oh, i suppose this would help: I'm using Adobe PhotoShop.

The colors, the colors
Rogue588,
Now that DVDCoverArt.com is back up you can get some nice templates from the help page. Note that these are at 300DPI, so you need to downconvert first before you paste your pieces in.
To down convert, this is how I do it in Photoshop Elements, YMMV since I know Elements has a simplified interface versus Photoshop.
- Image -> Resize -> Image Size
- Change the resolution box to 300 DPI. Leave everything else in the dialog alone. The pixel count should adjust automatically.
Sometimes it seems like I've had to Select All before this will work, maybe in it's a bug in Elements.
Everyone,
I can't seem to get this color/contrast/brightness correction thing right. I put together a cover for Lost in Space, but my silvers all ended up very, very blue. Then I decided to try Cannonball Run - it's much simpler, with a white background and not much art on the cover. No matter what adjustments I make the maroon title on the front is more of a muddy red, and I can't seem to get Burt's face out of the shadows on the back cover.
All of the covers that I've printed out from DVDCoverArt.com seem to have accurate colors, so I know I'm doing something wrong. Maybe my Umax Astra 600 scanner is just a piece of junk.
A professional graphic artist I'm not. Any of you pros have some tips for a rookie?
As mentioned above, I'm using Photoshop Elements.

Thanks for the help BrianPm. I finally got it.
Right now, i'm just scanning snappers. One of these days i'll get enough nerve [& time] to try and create my own like Sebastian.
These are the first two i've done:

One of the best movies ever. And one of my favorites. The re-release cover IMO sucks. I guess that was WB's revenge at being "forced" to release a w i d e s c r e e n version.

Do i really have to say anything about the original cover to this? God, it's amazing that Columbia pays people for crap like that. The new front cover is from the front of the insert.
I've been trying to send 'em to mdX [so he can put 'em up at www.dvdcoverart.com/], but i've been having problems with it. Hopefully, it'll be straightened out soon.

That a sweet cover Sebastian. Why not just use the regular or teaser poster already available? http://www.postersfast.com/asp/searc...rouching+Tiger
I think (Regular D) would work great with your cover. or maybe you could use (Regular C) which is my favorite

Sebastian, you are the master
Sebastian you are the man. I have always liked that CTHD artwork ever since I saw those posters on billboards here in NY. It gives the film a mythic quality and reminds me of comic graphic novels.
I haven't forgotten the scans of the BLADE and AUSTIN POWERS 2 screening invites that I promised you. I just have to figure out how I'm going to scan them. I'm new to this so bare with me. I'm dying for a nice BLADE cover with this original poster image to go along with the great cover for the upcoming disc of BLADE II.

I am having a hard time finding cover art for a less popular movie, Extreme Days. I looked at all the sites listed, and some others, but no luck. Anyone out there have any ideas? I'm looking for the insert with chapters on it if possible...
thanks!

SoccerDVD,
Is that movie any good? I entered a contest to win it, but didn't. Looked like it might be some mindless fun, so I have been trying to trade for it.

Brett- Yeah, it is pretty good. A lot of laugh out loud parts, and a lot of mindless fun. But all in all, it is fun. If you like extreme sports, it is really cool, and even if you don't it isn't 90 minutes of skateboarding, so you won't get bored to death. I liked it enough to make a VCD of it
Best,
Josiah

Five Star Cover Elements Needed
If anyone can scan and easily edit any fox five star covers, please send me one. I plan on experimenting with some holographic paper I found.
Any fonts and/or images that appear on them are appreciated too.
