I like The Killer a lot, but I'm relatively new to the DVD world, so I never got a chance to get the Criterion Edition. I'm hesitating between the HK version and the Winstar one.

Anyone have it? How is the quality?

I've only seen the HK version but the quality is more than adequate. It's been said by others that it compares very favourably to the criterion version, although not quite as good.

The subtitle translation is quite decent for a HK disc although there are a couple of spelling errors.

Thanks for the info. Does the sound have really bad balance between the bullets/action like many other HK DVDs?

There's a new domestic version that recently came out too. It has a new commentary by Woo on it
