I'm in a bit of a dilemma, I've got $100 of Amazon GC to spend so naturally I thought I'd spend it on DVDs.
Now Amazon DVD's aren't the cheapest so I need a way of minimising the cost - I opted for pre-order DVDs.
I decided to purchase 'The Beach' which is out next week at quite a hefty $24.49, and also 6 others including 'Touch of Evil' which isn't released til October.
Problem 1) Amazon won't surface ship DVDs so I have to pay the hefty WorldMail fees.
Problem 2) The preorders are 3 months apart.
Selecting 'ship seperately when available' sends the cost through the roof.
So, if I begrudgingly order these DVDs and select worldmail but NOT ship separately, will Amazon send out the DVDs as they become available (due to the large wait between release dates) or will I get a 7-DVD parcel in mid-October???

They used to often ship seperately even if you select ship all at once. However I think these days they must be cutting costs because I haven't had an order split up in ages. In fact I've got an order where one of the discs just got pushed back to Oct so I'm probably going to have to ask them to ship the rest at the extra cost (oh the humanity).

Pants, looks like I'll have to find $100 worth of books then!
(sigh) International DVD buying is becoming less and less appealing by the day.

I think the shipping cost on books is horrendous. Prepare for the worst. LOL

Yeah it is, but I can send them surface mail. I can wait 6 weeks, but I refuse to almost double my sub-total by selecting Worldmail and 'ship seperately'.
Hmph.

Not trying to be funny, but if you can wait for books, why can't you wait for DVD's?
I'm happy to wait, some pre-orders (X-Files series 2 for example) are months away. I'm prepared to wait. If you are saving so much then isn't waiting a while worth it? If it is not then you have to pay the premium.

Or why not split in to 2 shipments, with the titles that are nearest in release dates together?
The increase in shipping costs would only be $6.

How do I do this? I've only been given two options: together ($15.75) or separate ($39.75).

Place 2 seperate orders!
You do not have to spend the whole $100 at once. Any remaining amount after the first order can be applied to the next one.

Durrrr....good point!! Sorry I'm not functioning properly today. Stay well clear of Jack Daniels and coke in the afternoons.
