Just got booted out of the bargains forum, for posting a international based, bargain statement. Kinda gets on my nerves, when the 'locals' can say anything not dvd related and stay in there!

Please clarify......it just bugs me.

Anyway....if all you dvd importers in the uk need a good source...try www.play247.com, they may be quite expensive on some things but it includes first class registered post (about 4 days from Jersey!).

1) Welcome to the forum.
2) Everyone in the UK knows about Play already, but thanks for the "heads up"

As far as your locked out thread in the Bargains forum goes:

The best way to get cheap DVDs in the UK is currently either using BFL to get shipping rebated at Reel, which with a trivia coupon or two really brings the prices down; or, Jabbom-ing your way to a bundle of free Amazon gift certificates.

If you just want to buy American discs at halfway decent prices, I'd go with DVD Dynamic They're a Canadian company; their prices usually work out a couple of pounds cheaper than Play's, and they do free shipping all over the world. Discs are shipped individually (so not too much trouble with the £18 customs limit) and customs-labelled as "CDs, gift". Also, they do a pretty full range of DVDs, as opposed to Play who don't stock Criterions or anything "unusual" like that. One other point, DVDDynamic don't ship porno to the UK (not that you'd be buying that kinda thing of course )

Other places that I've had pretty good experiences with are DC-DVD who are a UK-based re-seller and are particularly good for obscure imports, but the prices are pretty damn steep. Also noteworthy are DVDStreet who have a good loyalty points system (review DVDs for store credit) and regular 15% off deals (there's one on at the moment that ends on Monday; check the other threads for details). BlackStar are good for preorders; 20% off retail with delivery almost always on the morning of release, but standard list prices are a touch on the steep side. And one other; Ezy DVD who are an Australian company who also cheap (or free? I forget...) worldwide shipping, because sometimes the Australian discs are better than UK ones, and you don't need a mutli-region player (Australia is PAL2, just like the good old UK.)

Good enough for ya?

Thanks for the......ermmm...essay. I know play's a bit over-priced, but they're pretty reliable.....kinda lost my business though. Currently buying from DVDBoxOffice, who, like DVD Dynamic, also ship free internationally. Prices are about $1 cheaper.....u know it all adds up!

i'm currently using elementusa for my amazon gc's but before that i brought items from video-now.com, as they have free shipping for two dvd's. they WILL ship these seperately if they do not have them in stock or one is a pre-order and the other is in stock, although they say otherwise. they take around 4 or 5 days after shipment.
