Hardware (Optimum U.K.): 6/22/09

Pre-order from Amazon, list price 19.99. No word yet on extras or specs. I already created an Optimum thread, but I figured this cult favorite deserved it's own thread.

I hope so!

A couple of the Optimum releases I own are stellar. Uncut versions of "Henry: Portrait Of Serial Killer", "Haute Tension", and most recently their Uncut release of "Prison" (in Widescreen!)

Hopefully there will be more information as we get closer to the release date.

From DVD Times:
Hardware (Special Edition) - Makings its UK DVD and Blu-ray premiere, Richard Stanley’s cult classic debuts as a Special Edition though features are currently TBC.

Definitely anxious about more specs concerning the release. Then again we are 2+ months away from it's release.

I'm hoping at the very least it's in OAR. Also did this film have a full unrated cut (as Giles mentioned) released in another country/format?

^ I think so but all the ones I've seen have been FS.

Re: Hardware (Optimum U.K.): 6/22/09

Specs from DVD Active:
* Uncut Version
* Brand new Director & Producer’s Commentary
* Voices of the Moon Documentary
* Original Market Promo for Hardware
* Booklet Featuring Shok! (Comic Strip Source Material)
* Notes by Kim Newman
* Original Storyboard Artwork
* More TBC
Uncut, with commentary and documentary? Sounds great. I'm going to assume the Blu-ray won't be region free though.

Thanks for the updated specs NoirFan!

Glad to hear it's Uncut. Extras sound really nice. Now we just need confirmation that it's in Widescreen

The "Voices of the Moon" Documentary has nothing to do with "Hardware". It was a documentary made by Richard Stanley, and is also included on the "Dust Devil" DVD

Yup. This was posted on the Cult Movie Forums:
I sent an email to Optimum, and they've informed me that the Blu-ray will be Region B locked unfortunately.

I don't think it was either but the only release Stateside was on VHS.

There was an shotty release (Dragon Films) of some sorts floating around amongst Cult/Horror retailers before Optimum's release. Problem with that release was the transfer was taken from the VHS and obviously not in Widescreen.

As Luther Heggs pointed out, this will be getting a US release (with Blu-ray!) in the fall.

I'll probably pick up the R1, granted there isn't a surprise difference on release day
