The Canadian version has no extras except for some trailers and is a tad pricey. The US disc is supposed to have an hour making-of doc and a director intro, but I caught glimpse of one over the weekend, and it had no extras, and the movie itself was edited for violence. I'm assuming this was a Blockbuster-friendly version, and the "Unrated" dvd sold at other places will contain the full cut and the extras. The UK BD will probably be region-locked to B (most of Optimum's BDs are locked), but will contain a making-of and two interviews, as will its dvd counterpart, which are both due out at the end of May. Of course, there is the French BD and dvd that have more extras, but they are non-english-friendly releases.

I thought I had read there were indeed two versions of the film (for US home video release), R and unrated. I'm just deciding whether or not to purchase the US unrated version (fifteen bucks at Best Buy), or wait and see if the Optimum edition will include the full 'making of' doc.

That would make sense, as the Weinsteins have done that for most of their Dimension Extreme line for Blockbuster.

À l'intérieur (aka Inside) comes to mind.

^ there was a R-rated cut of Inside ?? - oh I'd hate to see that.

Decided to splurge and just buy the Weinstein US dvd at lunch time over from Best Buy, if and when all the specs are revealed for the Region B bluray - I might sell off the US version and buy the import.

Yup, can't remember if HWV was involved but I know for sure Blockbuster had copies of it.

I remember various horror movie forums going ape shit because the R-rated version existed at Blockbuster. Honestly, I'm almost curious what exactly they cut out to even get close to a R-rating.

They do not cut every film. You joined the forum just to say that? The BBFC has not cut Martyrs for the UK

Yup! :)

First time I watched it I sat there for maybe 10 minutes figuring out what I had just seen.

Luckily my girlfriend was interested in seeing it so the second viewing made a little more sense :)
