Region 2 DVD playback.
This is a quick question, to see which one is at fault.
I'm in America. So, NTSC and Region 1 is the norm.
I have one of these two DVD players. Not sure what the difference might be between them.
I'm able to play DVDs from other regions (as an example, I'll use the Green Wing DVD set, which I bought from the UK) but when I watch there's a lag. It's not like things go out of sync, it's not as if I can't watch it and I'm sure most people might not notice (and considering the sped up/slowed down style of Green Wing, it might not be the best example) but there's like a milisecond lag where things stop (again, miliseconds) and then continue.
I was wondering if this is due to my DVD player or something having to do with the DVD itself being PAL formatted. If it's the DVD player, then changing it would be my next step.
Thanks in advance!

I had an old Cyberhome which I replaced about a year ago. There were certain DVDs that the player simply could not read properly, they were flagged in a manner the machine simply could not decode (this is why people who import a lot typically opt for a player that has the best chip capable of allowing proper pulldown and flawless PAL-NTSC conversion).
This being said I know exactly what you are talking about: the Cyberhomes have a great deal of trouble converting properly PAL video for example, or TV product in general (a good example would be the British The Professionals mini-series).
With other words if you had expected to get top-notch, flawless, PAL-NTSC conversion just because a player is said to be region-free then you have been misinformed. These players also range from poor to top-notch. With the majority of the cheap ones being somewhere in between.
Hope this helps,

I recommend an Oppo player that can detect and handle PAL flags. For more info read this:
