Cesar Awards 2008

Obviously overshadowed by another awards ceremony this past weekend, Friday night saw the Cesars take place in Paris. I was very pleased to see Amalric win best actor (the biggest oversight in the best actor Oscar noms, IMO), and also J. Depardieu getting best supporting actress.
Go to the website for the full list of winners/noms (click on "Palmares", then "2008").

I kept an eye on the Cesars and they did indeed produced much better results than last years (Lady Chatterley).
I can not wait to see Waterlilies and Un secret.
Plenty of these are getting English-friendly releases this year as well.

So I only checked the results..
I am very happy for Amalric and Cotillard, I saw those 2 films, I think Le scaphandre et le papillon is a wonderful film...
I don't know the others, could you recommend some ??
Especially what is 'La graine et le mulet' ? Is it good?

I haven't seen "The Secret of the Grain", mainly because I didn't much care for the director's previous effort, the much-lauded (and Cesar-winning) "L'Esquive". "Grain" opened domestically in December, but seems to have a big window before opening in many other territories (UK release, for example, is down for September 2008).
I haven't seen the 2 films Pro-B mentions above, but have heard good things about them. The Claude Miller film ("Un secret") has an interesting cast (Sagnier, Depardieu, de France).
Of the other winners, I can recommend "Terror's Advocate" (best documentary, and just released on R1), "Love Songs" (best music - and deservedly so) and "The Witnesses" (best supporting actor).
