Nicheflix closing down!
Nicheflix is closing their operations down, last orders shipped December 22!
They had not been adding new rental titles recently, and were furiously selling off stock on ebay.
Is there ANY alternative for R2 rental by mail in the US?

oh well, they were good for a year's worth of the foreign stuff that I wanted to rent. It's sad that they tried to do a great business. I don't see what the problem now if Netflix starts renting non-Region 1 dvds. Isn't it allowed?

Sad news. I don't mean to be crass by asking this, but do they have an eBay storefront? I'd still like to help them out in some way, even if it is through inventory liquidation.

Sorry to see them go. Thanks to Nicheflix, I was able to watch a lot of quality films that otherwise I wouldn't have seen.

It's too bad that they are selling their extremely used DVDs for so expensive. Just because it's non-Region 1, it doesn't mean you can price them as if they were new DVDs. The HK dvds are of course cheap, because HK dvds are cheap - if you rent one out a couple times, you get your money back.
I guess it sort of shows how attached they were to their DVDs and hoping the business would succeed...

I'm really sad to see them go, but I wasn't too happy with their service when I was a subscriber. The titles I wanted were apprently in high demand, and weeks would go by without me having anything out from them. And of course, stocking my queue with all the discs from a tv box set didn't work out, as they always ended up shipping them all out of order (at least those discs they did ship out were - never did get the first couple of episodes of DAMO).

It must've been hard, I was a subscriber as well, and often it would take weeks with an item on the top of my queue for it to make it to me. Still, his liquidation sale prices are awesome, I suggest you all check out hsi ebay store

Yep, it was a great idea that the great, unwashed masses (and even those of us who do occasionally bathe) apparently weren't quite ready for.
So yeah, thanks for giving it your best shot, and good luck to you, Mark.
And good luck to all the rest of us, too. In a world where good ideas like NicheFlix still just can't seem to fly, we'll need it....

I have bought several for what are pretty good prices
Hidden Fortress CC $8
Tom Yum Goong R3K $17
Agitator R0UK $9
One Night In Mongkok R3HK $5
Beautiful Boxer R0HK $5
The Myth R0HK $7
Those are pretty decent deals, and all look unused.

just bought a whole bunch for $4 and the chow yun fat trilogy for $25. These prices seem great! Why are people saying this is too much for used films? Buying these from a HK or UK dealer are more plus more shipping....

btw - just got my movies in.. all look in great shape.. even the box for the Chow Yun Fat trilogy is pristine. Maybe the non-HK discs were over priced, but I am VERY happy with my purchase..

I started a thread about this a long time ago looking for alternatives. I guess no one has found an equivalent Nicheflix alternative yet. But I did make a couple of purchases recently. I bought the Japan edition of Hero and the Korean (?) edition of Kung Fu Hustle at pretty good prices.

Has anyone heard anymore news? Based on the forums on the Nicheflix site, it sounds like operations, including the a la carte service, ceased at the end of December. But as a longtime member, I have NEVER received so much as an e-mail about the site closure or a notice about when to return movies or anything like that. Plus, as Mao said, I can't find anything on the home page to indicate it has closed or is closing. Weird stuff!
