Box set needed

Ok I want to buy this House of Flying Daggers Wooden Box Limited Edition (Region 3 China)
This elegant Limited Edition from mainland China is housed in a real wooden box. Among the contents inside is an actual dagger just like the ones in the movie. The blade is unsharpened for your protection, and you'll just have to trust me that it doesn't dodge and weave through the air when you throw it.

When I googled it it showed me this result and I went to the link

http://www.hkflix.com/xq/asp/filmID....qx/details.htm

but on their website they say that due to sony copyrights they will not ship it to USA address. Does anyone has this box set and if so where can I buy it from.

Cheers!!!

That hkflix link is for the R2J release, not the boxset. Sounds like that disclaimer is just that. I bet they'll ship it if you order it.

I've got that Mainland China box. The dagger is SMALL but cool.

Yes I think thats it. However, I wanted to know that I have an Apex AD-703 DVD player and I believe its region free. From what I understand that the house of the flying daggers 4 disc box set is a PAL version. ALso it states that the subtitles are in english. So is the movie is Chinese or whatever the language is or is it in English. Is the movie available in english with the box set.

Thanks for the link

Cheers!!!

I think the literature says PAL but my disc is actually NTSC. Will need to verify that though. I believe it has English subtitles.

I think DVD-Basen is a good start, it's not easy to tell you where to go, because many sites are specialized
in a genre, a region, a country or a language.

Within the reviews at the beaver there is usually a link/advertisement under the picture of the dvd cover that takes you to a place you can buy it from.

As for limited editions, you just have to look around. A good place to find retailers is here .

And while we're talking links about collectors editions and limited editions here's one that'll make you drool at all the postings they have:

Be forewarned, this site will bankrupt you and make you wish for more shelf space!!!!!!

What have you done TheDoug. Why did I click on that link. I cannot stop myself to start buying those collectors dvd sets. I just have one question, since I am starting my dvd collections. I am wondering should I invest in the new gen media like HD dvd/Bluray disc or buy the SD dvd's. I am so confused.

Anyways thanks

Sid369, deciding on which format to invest in depends on now much you want to invest in this technology...right now I'm happy with the standard dvd format (that may change with time). Glad you like that website...

Bumping this thread to request some help.

I am interested in this HOFD wooden box set (though I believe it is Region 0, not Region 3). In my research, I have come across two variations indicated in the pictures for this item. One has a red interior while another has a black interior. Does anyone know if both are legit?

Red Interior (same DVDAsian link as above):
http://www.dvdasian.com/cgi-bin/dvda...ml?id=wInKAUh4

Black Interior:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=190100232821

Quite honestly, I don't care about the packaging. Or even the special features. The main reason I am looking for this set is for the a/v quality of the film. So it is vital that I find a proper copy.

Any help would be appreciated.

I can't tell if that black one is black or just a shadow. Let me throw another wrench into this. I bought the set when it first came out. I think mine has the red interior, but need to double check. The set is listed as PAL but is in fact NTSC. I've seen this many times with GD Face dvds, though. Both of the items in those links look legit, they look just like the set I have.

re: PQ. I haven't watched it in a while. I should go back and watch it as I just rented the Blu Ray version recently and have that fresh in my mind. FYI, the BRD is not as bad as everyone says.
