Amazon Uk Bargains on Artificial Eye dvds

I stole this from Zedz at criterionforum.org

A ton of Artificial Eye dvds are on sale at Amazon Uk

Some examples
The Apu Trilogy, under £10, normally £50
Bresson - L'Argent £8.97
Ozu - End of Summer £7.97
Tarkovsky - Stalker
Derek Jarman - The Garden
Shinji Aoyama - Eureka
Paul Schrader - Affliction
Francois Truffaut - The Last Metro
Takeshi Kitano - Dolls
Raul Ruiz - Time Regained
Claude Chabrol - Merci pour le chocolat
Jia Zhangke - Platform
Sally Potter - The Tango Lesson
Kieslowski - Three Colours and Short Film About Killing

I had to pick up Apu for about $20 shipped.

Thanks Lemdog! Stalker for £9 is a steal! The Laurel and Hardy boxed set is also priced well at £93. (Down from £200.)

This is a fantastic set... I've spent hours with it and have barely scratched the surface of content. Highly recommended.

There is a note on DVDCompare about a lip synch problem with this edition. Can someone who has the DVD comment on it?

And to those buying outside the UK don't forget that the vat tax
is removed, pretty much making up for the shipping.

Wow! I thought I had done well when I got L&H for 63 pounds. 50 is an amazing deal. Great set, and worth every penny.

Thanks for the heads-up. I had a window open with the £9.97 price and was able to check out with that price just now. Also bought:

Spooks: Season 2 [2002]
Werckmeister Harmonies / Damnation [2003]
City Of Men

So is this DVD version of The Apu Trilogy good? I know the R1 supposedly has an awful transfer and no extras.

According to DVDCompare, Harmonies is non-anamorphic and Damnation is full-screen. Can someone who has these DVDs confirm or refute this?

I thought I had read somewhere that the R1 editions of the Apu Trilogy films are now out of print.

Just another second-hand report here, but DVDTimes gives the release a 9/10 for video and states that Harmonies is presented in 1.75:1 anamorphic. FYI, 1.33:1 is the OAR for Damnation.

It appears there were errors in the first Artificial Eye release of Werckmeister Harmonies so they re-issued it. Read about it on DVDBeaver here.

That's too bad. I was going to order it since I like The Simpsons.
