Korean 'A bittersweet life' ... any good ?

Does anybody know if this Korean gangster flick any good ? I thought this is one of 'out of competition' selection in this year Cannes Film Festival.

I really enjoyed it. The visuals and the action are great.
Check out the dvdtalk review as well. That will give you a pretty good idea about the movie itself.

While it's no Oldboy, it's certainly worth checking out.

Very few are... it's like saying a film made in Japan is no 'Ikiru'.

Not groundbreaking or original but entertaining and very well made.

Another vote to check it out.

I watched this last week, was very impressed. A good mix of drama + action, always stylish, never boring.

I thought it was pretty and entertaining but rather simple and unfullfilling - a gangster popcorn film and thus not worth the $20+ for the current Korean release. I would wait until there is a HK or Thai release in the low teens, single digit price range.

Almost everyone would agree that this movie is certainly not original in terms of plot, and you can see where it is going a mile away.

Nevertheless, watching it is such a joy because of how it was made. Incredible film noir, magnificent acting, impressive action scenes...

My feeling of after watching A Bittersweet Life was pretty much similar to after seeing John Woo's The Killer for the 1st time.
