First of all congrats! I wish you and your new wife all the best!!

Instead of recommending I am just going to list a few titles that I am very interested in and will either be getting very soon or have already placed an order for (I keep a small list of Spanish titles that I chip away from regularly)...
Ficcio- the latest by Cesc Gay (i really enjoyed his In the City and this new film has been getting all sorts of mixed reviews...I feel it is my cup of tea).
Yerma - another supposedly "bad" film based on a novel by Lorca. I am a big fan of Aitana Sanchez-Gijon so, I would like to have it.
El Calentito- this actually comes very strongly recommended! Outstanding film and the R1 disc by TLA i reviewed is horrible.
The 2 sides of the Bed/ The Other side of the bed- these half musicals are outstanding. And I must have everything Veronica Sanchez has done (or at least see it)!!!
El Dorado- if anyone still hasn't seen this film, You should!
Yo Soy...-I have not seen the new Bigas Lunas yet....
Historia de un beso- very enjoyable
El Viento-
Finally, the CineEspanol series by Warner-Spain are an excellent choice for anyone looking to spice up his/her collection with some classic Spanish titles.

AmonTwin, there is no coupon code for this sale. The discounted prices are already shown on the site. Also, once you log in to your account, you will see even lower prices because the VAT will be removed.
A few to consider (I liked these three a lot):
"El Septimo Dia" (2004)
"El Aura" (2005) - R1 is not anamorphic
"La Noche de los Girasoles" (2006)
And, as mentioned, most definitely:
"El Dorado" (1988)
"El Metodo" (2005) - didn't do a whole lot for me at all, but others seem to have liked it more

Okay. So I placed an order at DVDGo the other day and I just received an email asking me for authorization to debit my credit card. It is the first time I have ever ordered from them. They ask for my card number, expiration date, the 3-digit code on the back of the card and the name of the issuing bank and a few other things. Is this for real? Just a security measure? Has anybody else ever received an email like this from them? Thanks in advance...

After you place your order I recommend that you monitor your credit card (charges, pending charges, etc). All things considered though DVDGO are a solid and extremely reputable Spanish vendor.

Okay, I finally got my order from DVDGo today and have watched El Amante Bilingüe I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed it and wanted to thank everybody for their recommendations. My only complaint is that the CineEspanol disc did not come with any sort of insert or anything and it was a rather thin cheap plastic case (which, incidentally, was already cracked upon arrival which kind of pisses me off, but is neither here nor there as can't really fix it). Ultimately, it is the film itself that matters, but if I am going to be paying so much for a DVD, I wish it would come with a booklet or something. I am just weird like that as I wouldn't be able to read the Spanish anyway.
And I also noticed a few instances of misspellings in the subtitles. Regardless of those few things, it is great movie...
Oh yeah, and Ornella Mutti is ridiculously beautiful. Where can I find more of her?

almost no one puts booklets or inserts on their dvds. there are a very few spanish dvds that come with anything resembling an insert.

Tales of Ordinary Madness offers plenty of Mrs. Muti but unfortunately you will have to look at the UK version as the R1 is now OOP. The only other good R1 release for Muti fans is The Most Beautiful Wife by Damiani (La Piovra) where she is seen very, very young.
In Italy there are plenty of her sleazy films, which actually made her an icon, but unfortunately the better ones are not subbed. Muti also has a minor role in Belvaux's trilogy (see either Dutch or UK sets) but I would approach the set with caution as it is rather difficult to like it only because Muti is in it.
On a side note La Stanza Del Vescovo a.k.a The Bishop's Wife is a must have but unfortunately the Italian disc is not English-friendly (actually it is pretty sad how poorly Dino Risi is represented in the US):

Some of her great work with Alain Delon is also...persona non grata in the US
Though I still have a copy of her Bonnie e Clyde all'italiana (there is one scene here that I remember very, very well....
)Also, be aware that during the last 9-10 years Muti has done some incredible turkeys (most, small independent projects).

Not new, but I highly recommend Julio Medem's TIERRA. It's the best David Lynch film not directed by David Lynch. I just got the Spanish PAL DVD, very good quality anamorphic widescreen, awesome Spanish DD 5.1 audio, and great english subtitles, and a decent amount of non-subtitled extras.
You can buy it here on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Tierra-Earth-N...6635939&sr=1-2
Julio Medem is truely a master craftsman of a director. This is how I rank his films so far:
1. Lovers of the Arctic Circle
2. Tierra
3. The Red Squirrel
4. Vacas
5. Sex and Lucia
Has anyone seen Chaotic Anna and is it really that bad?

I'm new to ordering from DVDGo.com in Spain. Is there anyway to make this site English friendly? I see from previous posts that others in the states have ordered from them. I'm having trouble registering etc. on their website.

Just wanted to revive this thread and see if anything of special interest has come out in Spain lately other than the Jose Luis Guerin set.
Also curious if there is anywhere that has more reasonable shipping than dvdgo. Has anyone ever used fnac/es?

I've used FNAC several times before. My experience with them has been good - they were a bit cheaper than Amazon.fr when I used them. Shipping wasn't particularly fast or slow.

I just want to remind any international movie fans in here, if they haven't seen to many Spanish films besides Almadovar, to get any films starring:
Emma Suarez:

Nawja Nimri

Leonor Waitling

Anyone had the chance to pick up TIMECRIMES (2007) aka LOS CRONOCRIMENES yet? The DVD was released a few weeks back and - if DVDGO's listing is accurate - then it does have English subtitles (both 1- and 2-disc releases).
Or I suppose you can just wait for the R1 U.S. DVD at the end of March.

The 20 EURO shipping charge is the rough part. The 2-discer is at a 25% discount right now. After removing the 16% VAT, you are looking at 12.26 EURO or about 16.16 U.S.
I'm somewhat interested in the apparently English-friendly TRES DIAS (2008) too. It's the same price as the 2-disc version of TIMECRIMES.
I miss Xploited as they were really good for times like this when maybe you only wanted an item or two.

Re: Spain DVDs -anything new of interest?
Another forum piqued my interest in LA MADRE MUETA, and although this 1993 thriller by director Juanma Bajo Ulloa had a Region 1 dvd put out by Strand Releasing on March 26, 2006. It wasn't until I witness the trailer and saw and heard the wonderful soundtrack by composer Bingen Mendizábal that I was prompted to seek out the recently released 3 Disc Collector's Edition put out by Avalon Releasing a Spanish DVD label:

Has anyone else here witnessed this film, and if so do they agree it is worth the investment for this Spanish thriller? I understand that another film by this director, ALAS DE MARIPOSA also has a 3 Disc Collector's edition as well also put out by Avalon Releasing.
