This is somewhat good news...but why only 3 dvds....I would have to agree with you...the quality is probably rather poor.

Their site shows that these are 6 DVDs. Probably the box has three DVD cases and each case holds 2 DVDs.

Interesting selection. As you both say, Candaian DVDs can be awful. The worst I've ever seen and I've bought from everywhere.

I'm not a big fan of CL but he does have some great films. I'd like to see Les Misérables with English subs.

I'll have a look through that site later to see if there's anything that catches my eye.

well, as far as I can scope, it is a 3 VOLUME box-with 2 discs/films per volume-6 films in all;
I am getting uneasy, as I see some Canadian retailers listing LA BELLE HISTOIRE/SMICSMACSMOC as "1:78" and "Full Frame" aspect ratios respectively.

LBH was filmed 2:35 panavision;

also no word if they are 16:9 enhanced...

each volume of 2 discs/films will also be available seperately, apparently

a 'monique' wrote back to me from Imavision- assuring me that the discs (when appropriate) are 16:9 enhanced and in their original ratios;

regarding THE BEAUTIFUL HISTORY-which she says the master came directly from a new transfer from TF1-France-and theirs is 'scope.
Now if we could get LA REPENTIE released...

Did she mention whether or not they made a lovely PAL-NTSC transfer

I have to see a credible review of these discs before I approach them...

...and here it is: re: Lelouch box.

Hi Mark,

Unfortunately, it was converted from a PAL master (Digibeta) to NTSC
(Digibeta). We did not have access to the original films from TFI who we
bought the rights from.

I would like to rectifie what you say about companies that are"too cheap"
because there are 2 main reasons that Quebec releases are converted from
tape to tape:

1-we often don't have access to the original film
2-French speaking Quebec is too small of a market to justifye such expenses.
A good seller in French speaking Quebec is between 3000 to 5000. Compared
with the USA and French Europe where they can sell over 100,000 units

I hope this answers your question.

well, that sums it up for me I think. For what is worth I think that Mrs. La Velle is a very honest person and I would keep my eye on their company.

Thank you for providing all the information.

I thought so too, and let her know, with appreciation
