I am based in the UK and wanted to try and pick up a version of this movie with English subs.
But according to a well known dvd compare site, the only two are a reputedley awful transfer on a Singapore version, or a suspected bootleg version from Thailand. The latter also appears to be in 5.1.
I don't really want to go for the bootleg version, but can anyone offer any advice on any other possible better versions that may be available?

I don't beleive there are any official releases yet with English subtitles. Hell they haven't even announced a U.S. DVD release yet.
Unfortunately I spent $8 and bought the redsun "uncut" version and yes while it is a bootleg I've had no problems with it, its anamorphic and 5.1 DD and it plays and looks great on my HD tv. The subtitles are spot on and very clear so it will have to do until I can get an official release with Eng. Subs...

You can buy the HK VCD. As of now, that's the only legitimate release with English subs. If you want a DVD with English subs, you'll have to wait.
Take it from me, the movie doesn't need subs. You can easily find those on the Internet. The plot isn't that important. Just make sure you get the original version, if you do buy a DVD. Luc Besson changed the music and cut some of the violence.
You're living in London. Didn't the movie start over the weekend? The UK website says it opened on May 13th.
