Forced subs on R2 French "The Irrefutable Truth About Demons"?
Hi. I'm hoping that someone can confirm whether or not there are forced French subs on the English language track of the French R2 DVD of "The Irrefutable Truth About Demons."
The only review of the French disc that I could find (at DevilDead) is in French. Translating the text reveals the following:
"Imposed" subtitles implies that they cannot be removed, but I'm not 100% sure.
This French R2 version is the only widescreen DVD release of this film. I'm hoping that someone can confirm the sub issues. THANKS!

I think that with this particular release you should be able to turn off the French subs. I did some research and I believe thar they are not "forced". You will probably get a default setting where they pop-up when you use the OLT (English) but they are most definitely not "forced".

Thanks very much Pro-B.
Where did you do your research? I searched and searched before posting, but couldn't find anything definitive. I'd hate to pay to import it and be disappointed.

Well, it occurred to me to ask the reviewer on the DevilDead site. Here's the response that I received:
Oh well. That's disappointing. Still searching.

Hello !
Don't worry about the fact that you don't read french.
Yes, the french subtitles cannot be removed when you watch the movie with the english track.

I looked at DVDfr....and Pascher....I would still challenge what the reviewer at Devildead said. In reality YES the subs are imposed....but I would think that they are player generated...not part of the print. A number of players can offset this issue. (If this was TF1 I would argue that yes the subs are non-removable)
Of course you make the final call.
