Necronomicon 2 disc edition (France)
Has anyone noticed that Seven 7 in France are releasing the H P Lovecraft adaptation Necronomicon next week as a special 2 disc edition.

Well I've ordered it and once I recieve it I'll check and post here; unless someone else can already answer this. I've had a couple of other dvds by this company and you could turn off the subtitles from the dvd player remote. ( The French edition of Crying Freeman was one).

I can confirm that this does indeed have forced French subs on the English track; c'est la vie. Rather spendid ENGLISH commentary track from Christophe Gans and Brian Yuzna, though. And a second disc of extras I've not had a chance to check out yet.

Are the French the only country to do this? I haven't heard of any others. It's completely inane... Can someone explain the logic? Are the French just so snooty that they cannot fathom that some French people know English and don't want or need the forced subs? *sigh*

I'm opening a new thread to inquire about forced subs on another French release of a US movie. Hopefully the answer is "no."
Thanks, Pro-B.
