Question about Cutie Honey live action (r2)

As far as I know the Japanese Cutie Honey DVD release of Hideaki Anno's live action film does not have English subtitles, but I just received an email from CDJapan where they listed the collectors edition as having eng. subs:

"Cutie Honey (English Subtitles) Collector's Edition" [Limited Release]

Starring Eriko Sato. A 12-page booklet included. Comes with a bonus disc
containing making-of featurette, deleted scenes, promo reel, and production
matarial. Extras include a 12-page booklet, 60-page storyboards by Shinji
Higuchi, 20-page storyboards featuring Masayuki, and a pilot manga by
Shinpei Ito. A bonus figure doll included.

When you go to the site though it doesn't list English subs. Can anyone confirm that this release does or does not have English subs. I might pick up the LE if it does have them.

Thanks!

Exactly, DVDAsian only lists the regular release and says it has no subs. My feeling is that it is a typo in the CDJapan mailer.

The disc has been out for a little while now so I am hoping that someone with it will confirm it either way.

Looking at the back of the case of the standard edition, I see no mention of subs at all, Japanese nor English. I'd be surprised if the movie disc itself in the limited edition was a different pressing than the standard one. If anyone has a good scan of the back of the actual disc case included in the limited edition, I could tell if there really are subs or not. It's a long shot, but who knows?

I really wish there were subs, I really want to check out the film. It looks so silly, it has to be good.

I am hoping that we will see an R3 release soon w/ subs. I really, really like Anno's live action work (probably more so than his anime workl), so I need to see this.

Since I'm a filthy piglet and I love that pic of her costume...what's the rating of this thing?

I don't believe there is nudity, atleast not with Eriko Sato, but her transformation sequence is her nude with strategically placed hands.

How about with less than the costume (linked cause it may not be worksafe)?

I just watched this today, it is very good. I really enjoyed it. Hopefully there will be a good R3 of it. I really want this on DVD.

Yep, Eriko Sato is a very popular swimsuit idol in Japan, and unfortunately she has yet to appear anywhere nude, or even giri-giri (near nude). (but the transformation sequence sounds a little bit promising, at least)

It isn't that great. When I watched it this afternoon I realized what I said above isn't completely accurate, I had read it elsewhere. There is A LOT of CG over the transformation sequence so there is hardly anything visible. She is in her bra and panties several times in the movie and it is very ecchi at times.

I've only seen a single episode of the "New Cutie Honey" cartoon, but every time the character transformed into her superhero alter ego she was stark nude for several seconds. I assumed that was meant to be a hallmark of the series. They really don't carry this over to the live-action version?

I've never heard of the cartoon, I've obviously never seen it before, but I've seen this movie. When I went into it, I was viewing it only as a stand alone film, and I loved it. The cuteness of the main star overshadowd anything that was wrong with the movie in my eyes. I could watch this gal in just about any type of film and I'd be taken away by it...errr...by her.

Oh lord is this woman hot, wow.

I did like the movie itself as well, it was very weird, odd, and that made for some very interesting entertainment for me.
