What would be the reason for them not to include subtitles? Most Hong Kong releases have English subtitles, especially big movies like this one. I guess we'll have to wait for the eventual Korean release.

its an odd one : now i hear the company making the disc is working to ensure the disc does include subtitles in english as such a fuss has been kicked up already...

okay I'm a little confused here, there seems to be three versions, right?:

  • a current release version that is PAL

    December 10th editions:
  • 2 Disc Limited edition with bonus material
  • single 'movie-only'

I just hope it's better quality than the Letterboxed PAL DVD that's out now... YUCK.

Oh and Jaimie I see how it is... You're too good to post at the Bendis board so you're just posting on DVDTALK!!!

Does anyone know what will be included on the second disc of the limited edition set? Is there any chance that these extras will feature English subtitles? Thanks in advance for any and all responses.

The PAL version contained a making-of featurette, but there were no subtitles--which is pretty standard for such things.

I'd like to see the French website put on a disc as a CD-ROM feature.

Oh, and Helio...you know where you can stick it! Quit stalking me!

That seems unlikely. Have they even set a theatrical release for this yet? It would have to be pretty early in the year for an April DVD date.

    pre-order or wait-and-see?

I know that Mei Ah used to be known for making poor quality DVDs. Have they improved in recent years? Is this edition of 2046 pre-order worthy or more of a wait-and-see?

I haven't heard anything about that one, but if it comes with the soundtrack, it's definitely the one I want.

Don't think the 2 disc comes with the OST. According to dddhouse.com:

    Disc 1 : Movie

Disc 2 : 50 mins Special Features with English subtitle
    Interviews
    Footage
    Making Of
    Trailer
    Cast & Crew
    Photo Gallery

It's the 2-disc set and the soundtrack sold together, not really a 3-disc set.

I am just speculating here ..., but is there a chance that criterion would get hold of the rights to this film and release a stellar DVD like they did for 'in the mood for love' ?

so, is this Meh Ah release going to be the best Asian edition, or do you gentlemen (and ladies if you are present) think a better one is on the horizon? I remember a few different, 'In The Mood For Love' floating around...
