The Emperor and the Assassin - cut for DVD?
Hi all,
Does anyone know if the theatrical release of The Emperor and the Assassin was longer than 161/163 minutes? I am watching the Mei Ah DVD - I saw the film back in 1999 or 2000, but not since - and some of the cuts from one scene to the next are awfully abrupt.
Someone wrote on imdb.com that half an hour was cut from the film(!)... I am wondering if anyone here knows if that is true or not.

...sorry - thought he meant "no other version but the Mei Ah"...
...incidentally, the IMDb gives the film's length as 163 minutes, and does not mention a "longer version" = now I know that the immediate comeback to that is: "you can't trust the IMDb for accuracy", but still...
