Got my R2 Casshern -- Initial Thoughts.
My 3-disc R2 Casshern arrived today. Packaging is simple, 3 slim digipacks in a slipcase.
I've only watched the film in dts-ES but it looked and sounded awesome. A very nice 2.35:1 anamorphic transfer and really bright colors help bring this story to life.
The picture was a little bit soft to my eyes but still looked great. Colors are awesome.
I can't wait to get into the rest of this set.
Anyone else get theirs?

I got the set the other day. I've only been able to watch about an hour of it, but I'll hopefully be able to put some more time into it tonight or tomorrow.
Like RicP said, the packaging is simple, but very nice.
The set comes in a nice and sturdy silver/metallic box (sorry about it being out of focus..)

The three separate digipacks

Inside the digipacks and back of the box

the picture also looked a tad soft to my eyes as well, but nothing I'd really complain about.

Looks pretty nice. For some reason I never preordered this one, even though I really want to see it. I might have to get this soon.
Any word on a Korean release?

Anyway, the Japanese release is damn sweet, so I recommend you buy it.

Heavy Liquid:
Nice shot of the Zenith 318 in action! That's what I used to view my set as well.

Even with shipping, it's cheaper than yesasia (~$43). May have to get one for myself.. the film looks intriguing.

Contrary to some beliefs on this forum, not every Asian movie gets a Korean DVD release. CASSHERN was never released in Korean theaters, so it is very unlikely that it will be released on DVD there. Sorry!
Waste a shitload on a Japanese over priced dvd or get a cheaper version a few months or so down the line, nothing to think about really, unless you have loads of cash or realllllyyyy want to see the film. I really want to see it, but come on! its far to high priced and I buy anything, but japanese dvds are just taking the piss with there silly prices.

Hey hundreds of films dont get a cinema release in Korea, and they still some out on dvd, so yes people expect a Korean release, and it pretty much 100% certain wil happen as it happens with practically all sellable films, and this IS a film that will sell.

I'm sure a 3 Disc Korean release would be just a couple of bucks less (shipped).
