I hope CDJapan are right about these having English subs (except for the supplementary material) as I have just placed an order at Amazon Japan where it is 20% off (no mention of subs at Amazon).

Here's the info I posted on a few other sites i translated somewhat:

will finally get the royal treatment with two 8 disc boxsets of his works coming out soon,
by Geneon Entertainment
Box #1 will be issued 12/20/04, titled “Minna Ganbare!” which includes:
“Ososhiki” aka “The Funeral” (1984) DISC 1
“Tampopo” (1985) DISC 2

“Making Of A-ge-man” documentary (1990) DISC 7
“Making Of Shizuka Na Seikatsu” documentary (1995) DISC 8
Also comes with a 40 page booklet (in Japanese),
And special edition packaging (wow!)
Box #2 will be issued 2/25/05, titled “Tatakau Onna!” which includes:
“Marusa No Onna 1” aka “A Taxing Woman” (1988) DISC 1
“Marusa No Onna 2” aka “A Taxing Woman Returns” (1988) DISC 2

“Marutai No Onna” (1997) DISC 5
“Making Of Marusa No Onna 1” Documentary (1987) DISC 6
“Making Of Marusa No Onna 2” Documentary (1988) DISC 7
“Making Of Minbo” Documentary (1992) DISC 8
Again, 40 page booklet and similar packaging.
Both sets retail at Y29,925 each,
And you cannot buy the movies separately
I really wished they put a doc about his life and death, but they didn’t want to include that.
No word on commentaries, trailers or other extras, but this is quite nice.
www.cdjapan.co.jp claims it has English and Japanese optional subtitles,
but can’t find it on any other site. I’ll confirm that as soon as I get info.
