Guys, I've just watched this again (a rental copy) and there's no problem with the image.
PAL DVD player to PAL TV. |
ok, I just got my copy and here is the deal for me:
my current setup is a JVC XV-SA600 region free and a Toshiba 57HX93 Cinema Series tv. when I started the movie my player was set to video mode. I noticed some very fine jaggies but also noticed some jitter in the point where the film/black bar meet. I switched my player over to film and it seems to have cleared up everything. no more jaggies/jittering. here is an example of what I mean: at 3:45 there is a kid with a stripped blue shirt. in video mode the lines are real jittery but when I switch over to film mode the lines are perfectly smooth. I hope this helps. EDIT: I only watched the 1st 5min. of this so I am not sure if any problems may occur at a later point in the film. |
No jaggies via my Sharp LCD projector.
|
I also had some jaggies until I changed my filter to 'Still' on my Malata 520.

Just got mine today from Amazon UK, was a little worried that it took more than a week but its all good, pissed there wasnt an insert, never thought that would bother me, go figure. As for someone asking about gore being cut, there was gore equal to or more than this in the Dawn remake or even Exorcist:Beginning. I love all the extras on this disc, i know US discs would spread this out over 2 discs for sure.

I have a Cyberhome 300 and for some reason I cannot get the damn subtitles off! When I press SUBTITLE on my Cyberhome remote, it gives the no function icon on my tv. When I press DISPLAY, next to SUBTITLES it says OFF. And my TV's remote doesn't do anything either. This is damn frustrating. Anyone have similiar problems with this disc?
|
anyone playing this movie through a Philips 727? how is it.

Got mine yesterday and watched it last night - funny film.
I noticed the subtitle option is not shown in the Display function - you have to go through the menu to turn them on, so the previous reply might have Neuman's answer - go through the Options menu to turn the subtitles off. (I watched mine on the Cyberhome 712 portable and didn't have this problem) |

Nah, even in the options, I can select no subtitles, but they still remain on the screen.

Originally posted by Neuman Nah, even in the options, I can select no subtitles, but they still remain on the screen. I have taken a close look at the subtitles on the disc and they're very messy. The ones that you are experiencing seem embedded with some players, but as I say, you should be able to find a workaround. |
I don't know what you mean by find the title of the film, but I started it, ejected the disc and reloaded it, and pressed stop twice. Now i'm on the Cyberhome blue screen. I don't know how to get into the player's set up menu. Hitting Menu or Setup on the remote doesn't work. And now I can't get the disc to play at all after I've pressed stop twice. None of the buttons really do anything except for Display and Eject. It won't even play the movie the way it was. Now what?
|
Ok ignore that last post... I got into the players settings, changed the subtitle language to French... turned the movie on... and the subtitles are still on the screen... still on English. Good thing I didn't want to watch it with French subtitles, but it wouldn't have even let me!

Scott, I mean that there is more gore in Dawn, and in Shaun, while some bits are gory, they are played for laughs mostly.
|
You shouldn't go into this film with a high expectation for gore more so then it's a comedy. The gore comes out of no where during a few scenes and it really is good stuff, but is just enough to hit the point home that this is a zombie movie.

if you pause the dvd at points where say diagonal lines are present, say a pair of glasses the jaggies are visibale on all my machines (5 of them) so yes they are there, but barley noticable when not paused, so dont pause :)

Any word on the Region 3 release yet?

CDWOW emailed me back and said the Region 3 has been indefinitely delayed.

Still having problems with Shaun??

Good thing I didn't want to watch it with French subtitles, but it wouldn't have even let me! I have the same subtitle problem with my Cyberhome and my R2 disk of "Shaun of the Dead." Have you been able to solve it? If not, does anyone else have any ideas??? Cheers! Ann :) |
