Nice list. I'll have to pick up Fifth Element. What's the diff b/t Usual Suspects and the R1 SE?

D'oh. Answered my own question:
with R1 SE and the R2 France, Holland and UK SEs. The R2 France, Holland and UK SEs have a minor Additional Extra ("Bryan Singer Introduces Kevin Spacey and Friend"), but the R1 has the Original "Burnt-In" Captions/Titles rather than Player-Generated ones. R1 has 2 featurettes as Easter Eggs.
Guess I'll just be picking up Fifth Element!

Almost went for the 5th Element deal, but the comparison at http://www.compare.dvdbeaver.com/ shows a very bad R2 print vs the Superbit. The colors are disturbing ... I'll pass. But thanks for a great tip, nonetheless, Bill.

I have both Fifth Element and Usual Suspects. Usual Suspects is also a 2 disc compared to the R1 flipper. Fifth Element is full bit DTS.

So Bill, don't you find 5th element to be high contrast and harsh, with dirt, specks, etc.? The comparison site with screeen grabs makes the transfer look bad.

Ordered
Raging Bull SE for $8.95 (non-anamorphic transfer though)
The Hitcher SE for $11.95
Tommy (2 disc) $17.95 (not a bargain but the cheapest I've seen)

I think they also have a decent price on 2 disc Terminator SE and a 2 disc O Brother, Where Art Thou. Was tempted by the 2 disc Fifth Element just for the extras and the cover art looks cool too but I'm sticking to my Superbit. Even if I could tell the difference between the full- and half-bitrate DTS tracks, somebody will bring up the whole PAL speedup debate (I personally cannot tell the difference). The extras look good though.

If anybody knows any other bargains there please post. I like these guys although their selection tends to be somewhat limited.

Usual Suspects flipper? are you referring to the case, or is the r1 Usual Suspects on a double sided DVD?

The R1 SE is a flipper - widescreen on one side, fullscreen on the other.

I didn't know that there were two versions. I wonder which one I rented from eHit.com?

buffy region2 seasons 6 and 7 show up today as 17.99 pounds. this is $64.50 for both. the once more with feeling dvd alone is 11.99 gbp so you can get the whole season for just a little more. I don't know if this is a price mistake nor how cdwow handles price mistakes if it is- and yes I'm aware this isn't OAR!

Unless I'm mistaken, "flipper" applies only if you have to flip the DVD to see the entire movie - part 1 on one side, part 2 on the other side.

Marty,

I know a flipper is part 1 to part 2...but I was just referring as to having a two sided disc as compared to getting a get disc set by buying the R2.

The transfer is bad.

I "traded up" to the Superbit and couldn't believe the difference!

If there are any Oasis fans out there, be sure to order Definetly Maybe special edition. It's insanely priced as a pre-order at cdwow, at GBP 8,99 where as the cheapest pre-order I've seen at any other place was GBP 13,99 and it's proper retail price is set at GBP 19,99

You can find it in the multiregion top 75.

Buffy not a misprice

Just wanted to let people know that I successfully ordered both buffy seasons 6 and 7 for about $65 shipped, and received confirmation of their shipment at that price. Incredible deal! (yes, I am aware that these are not Whedon's preferred aspect ratio)

I only see season 7 and that is listed at $53.95.

They corrected the Buffy prices. It was a small window, and congratulations to those who made it!

Got my Hitcher SE. Probably the best DVD release this film will ever see. The transfer is decent for the age of the film. The documentary was short but entertaining. The 2 short films are nothing special but are still a neat added feature especially since one of them is referred to in the documentary. Raging Bull SE has good extras but rather sparse for a 2 Disc set. The non-anamorphic transfer is disappointing on a widescreen television. Sound was excellent though. Both had really cool cover art.

Cool, thanks for the reminder of this release. Here's the breakdown on what on this DVD:

Interactive Features:
Interactive Menus, Scene Selection, Making Of Feature, Filmography, Featurette

Review:

So much better than The Bourne Identity Explosive Extended Edition, and with very little else around and summer is almost over, time to remember an absolute classic debut album from a much maligned pub band. Not out until September but it's our DVD of the whole summer.

The classic audio version is accompanied by over four hours-worth of archive and new footage, including an hour-long documentary about the recording of the album featuring interviews with the band, label, friends and entourage. Classic live and TV performances of Definitely Maybe’s seven era-defining tracks, as well as all 6 promo videos from the album and more extras besides, make up the rest of this treasure chest of classic Oasis music and footage.

Tracklisting:

1. Rock 'N' Roll Star (from 'Top Of The Pops', September 1994)
2. Shakermaker from ('Naked City', June 1994)
3. Live Forever (from Glastonbury, June 1994)
4. Up In The Sky (from Chicago Metro, October 1994)
5. Columbia (from Hammersmith Palais, December 1994)
6. Supersonic (from 'The Word', March 1994)
7. Bring It On Down (from Gleneagles, February 1994)
8. Cigarettes And Alcohol (from Southampton Guildhall, November 1994)
9. Digsy’s Dinner (from Buckley Tivoli, August 1994)
10. Slide Away (from New York Wetlands, July 1994)
11. Married With Children (from Los Angeles Whiskey A Go Go, September 1994)
12. Sad Song (from 'Later With Jools Holland', December 1994)

Now if only someone could release their 1994 Glasto set 'complete' and all the video's I'd be a happy camper.

No Wonderwall = No sale.

God I love that song.

Also I rec'd Fifth Element yesterday and the packaging for it is very cool. The image looks pretty nice on my non-HD monitor, and I would say [for me] that the packaging + extras are worth getting the R2 instead of the SB.
