There was at least a point to getting the first box (to get the uncut volume 1). Unfortunately, they only include the US cut in the big box, so i'm not sure i'll get any of them.

Pics? Link? C'mon, don't leave us hanging. I just checked Amazon Japan, CDJapan and the official Japanese Kill Bill site, but they all came up empty on this. The inclusion of the US cut of Vol 1 is a useless feature for most of us (but possibly of interest to Japan based Kill Bill completists).
But really, for most of us, considering there was apparently not a Japanese cut of Vol 2, paying 9500 yen for basically a Bearbrick, a t-shirt, postcards, and DVDs we can buy stateside, is not really worth the price. The diehard completist in me may disagree, but I might have to pass on this, if this info is correct.

I agree but I may get the Jpn DVD if the extras are different and just stick it in the KB1 box.

All info can be found at YesAsia

In addition to the feature film, this extremely limited Japan-only Premium Box includes a reversible jacket featuring two characters from the movie (first pressing only), making-of featurette, unreleased scenes, footage from the premier party, trailers, a cool Kung Fu t-shirt, Pai Mei keyholder, "Love Bride" Be@rbrick, 24 page all-color booklet, and special memorial cards (complete set of 10).
Probably won't be getting this one...

There seems to certainly be numerous editions of Kill Bill Vol.2 coming out of Japan. The limited edition box set that seems to mimic the Vol.1 that came out, doesn't seem to include Vol.1, only Vol.2. See it at hmv.co.jp

Nothing about these on Amazon yet.
The weird thing is that the limited box on hmv says it just has Vol 2 while the box on cdjapan says it has both discs. They have different retail prices that seem to reflect this, but they have the exact same catalog # (GNBF-7043). Strange.
For reference, the other catalog numbers are:
GNBF-7040 Kill Bill Vol 1 regular DVD
GNBF-7041 Kill Bill Vol 1 Limited box set
GNBF-7042 Kill Bill Vol 2 regular DVD
GNBF-7044 Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2 DVD twin pack
Anyway, when the Vol 2 DVDs do show up on Amazon, looking them up by these numbers is the easiest way.

Looking at the pics, I'm probably not going to get this. It would be nice to have a matched set of the two limited boxes, but the extras aren't really doing anything for me. The only thing that I think is kinda cool is that the Bearbrick comes in a coffin. The figure itself though is pretty lame. I really wish that they would have done actual character Kubricks for these, instead of those goofy Bearbricks.

Actually, the HMV description states that the box includes the Kill Bill Vol 1 Vanilla Version. The only real difference is that the CDJapan listing has a much higher retail price. And it is listed at Amazon Japan as well, but with no detail.
Yeah, Amazon has had that Kill Bill listing with no details for several months now. I was referring to them having no official listings yet (ie. with price information or catalog numbers).

I'm thinking it's just their way of saying that this is the Japanese edition of the DVD. There is nothing in the description that mentions a different cut. I would hope that they are not just trying to mislead people with the title. (unless they do have some info that this is a different cut, something that I couldn't find out about after months of poking around
)

I know what you're saying and I hadn't heard anything either. I'm probably gonna get this anyway for completion sake, but a different cut would've made me feel a lot better about doing so, especially since we don't even know what's gonna be on the R1 superset!

Pricing
Prices on Premium Box Set:
Amazon Japan - 6,080 yen (it looks as though Amazon may now remove the tax from foreign orders as this shows at 6,384 yen on the item's page, but 6,080 in my order - so, this is a done deal)
HMV - 7,182 yen
CDJapan - 9,500 yen (this is a strange pricing as the actual pre-discount retail on this at the other two stores is 7,980 yen).

Remember I said the page displays 6,384 yen... the 6,080 yen was the charge in my order (and similarly reduced prices were applied to other items sharing the order)
