Anyway, I'm still picking up DVDs... totally off topic, but in the past couple of weeks I've seen a couple of films in French cinemas that'll no doubt interest you (and others) when they make their way to disc: Assayas' "Clean" and Ozon's "5x2". "Clean" is especially good. Next month sees the new Jean-Pierre Jeunet film and "Arsene Lupin" both open here, so both should be worth a look.
So... I'm aware this post I've just made so far has nothing to do with Cassell/Bellucci - so how about a bit of info: the fantastic 2-disc "Dobermann" (no English subs) can currently be had in French Virgin Megastores for only €15 (or as part of a 2/€30 in many other stores). Quite a bargain for anyone that can get to one of those stores.

Absolutely agree with you, CLEAN has gotten some very good reviews. As it is however, it will be awhile until the film comes to the US.
Arsene Lupin i am convinced will get a US distributor. Believe it or not I have quite a few books with the famous detective's stories. As to Dobermann this is indeed quite a deal. Sadly, I dont have anyone visitng Paris or other metro areas at this point. My brother owns the Dutch version and this could have been a great present for him.
Anyhow, I am glad you are finally back.

ps
Excited about this project

This could (quite frankly) be the biggest disappointment for English speakers this year. A beautiful, beautiful set....and no subs so far

I was surprised to see this at my videostore yesterday. It went straight to dvd here in The Netherlands, under the title Spy Bound (don't ask me why!)... The Dutch dvd has DTS, but only Dutch subtitles.
Well, to get to the point: I was glad i rented this for free, 'cause it was AWFUL!!! It's difficult to find words for this huge disappointment, but the movie borrows from every spy movie, without ever being original. Bad editing, weak story and no chemistry at all between the real-life lovers, altough they don't have a lot of time together on screen... It almost seems this was made around their break-up! * 1/2 out of * * * * *
At least Monica is still the most beautiful woman in the world for me. And yes, she showed the two redeeming values again, even in this film...

Hey Vandaahl,
The back of the dvd states 1.78, and yesterday i noticed that some of the framing looked very odd. I remember a wide shot with Cassel and Bellucci talking, and you only saw half of their faces...

Dutch Film Works, ofcourse... I thought they had bettered themselves lately, but they even managed to give The Card Player a non-anamorphic transfer! I'm glad i NEVER buy their dvd's...

I sold the double "coffret" of Irreversible (French edition) about a month ago....had I known I would have sold it to you....Prepare yourself to pay at least 35 Euro.

Are we talking about the standard French edition of "Irreversible" (the film with all the extras, plus the soundtrack CD), or the boxset which has that same edition plus "Seul contre tous"? The standard edition is one that is now often available quite cheaply in France. I don't live in Paris, but last time I was there I saw it for around €15 in stores such as Virgin, and more commonly saw it as part of a 2/€30 offer in many different stores...
I haven't seen "Agents secrets" yet, although I may buy it. I've heard some bad things about it, and with Christmas on the way there are plenty other things to spend money on...
