A Better Tomorrow....
These John Woo's classics A Better Tomorrow I & II ... Are they going to be released by HKL? I doubt that the current versions from Anchor Bay are the best ... at the moment maybe yes, but these titles should undergo better treatment. Reviews also said we should neglect R2 and R3 releases...

A Better Tomorrow is already available in R2. It's a 2-disk set by MIA. They don't have ABT2, though. I think HKflix has it, or if not, Amazon.co.uk has it. The only review I've read said the audio/video bite, but it's the only version out there I know of that has any kind of extras beyond filmographies and trailers.

HKL has the rights to A Better Tomorrow 2 and 3. I seem to remember part 2 was supposed to be released last spring, but it has apparently slipped off of their schedule. I would imagine that they would get around to releasing it sooner or later as it is one of their more high profile titles.

Brand new remasters of A Better Tomorrow 1-3 and the Killer are due out in April in Japan. Expect them to be the definitive versions audio/video wise. Unfortunately they will not be carrying subs. The Anchor Bay releases are not bad, the soundtrack problems are overstated. The main problem is that they are from the Atlas international print and as such there is a bit of print damage in part 1 and they lack the proper opening/closing credits.

Other version ...
Besides the old HK version, I see that now A Better Tomorrow I & II, III have been released by Deltamac. However, I'm not sure about this edition. Anybody has information about them? I'm afraid Deltamac only recycled the old HK version ...
I also hear that there's a Korean release of A better Tomorrow. Anybody has information about this release?

The Spectrum's release of A Better Tomorrow 1, 2 & 3 with DTS

The packaging is identical to the Bruce Lee Set, which I have. The packaging alone is wonderful. From what I heard, the R3K Bruce Lee set used the same master with the soon to be released R3HK Bruce Lee 7 Disc Set from IVL

Therefore, I believe the R3K A Better Tomorrow 1, 2 & 3 Set with DTS will be using the same master with the soon to be released R3HK version, which is supposedly HD remastered and digitally cleaned up.

According to Koreandvds.com, the release got postponed (Better Tomorrow). I asked about this last week when I found out about it. I'll keep my eyes open. It will be mine...oh yes! I still need to get that Bruce Lee set too. That is just too sweet to pass up on.

I have the Anchor Bay discs for Parts I & II, but this set looks killer! I hope it makes it out of the door, and would it be too much to ask for the best transfers yet?
......probably.

The 3 Disc set is set for release in Korean on May 3, 2004. Koreandvds.com has it listed for $49.00. I am hoping www.dvdheaven.com has it for at least $10.00 cheaper.
Edit...and they do! They have it listed for $38 and change.
http://dvdheaven.com/list_detail.php?idx=%208280
They are 16:9 and DTS (as stated) with English subtitles.
Second edit... It appears to me that Koreandvds.com is selling that movie, as well as many others, at the SRP price. I could be wrong.
Edit three... dvdheaven also has the Bruce Lee box for under $50.00

it would be interesting to see if the HK version of Enter the Dragon is different. and also, how all of the movies differ from Hong Kong Legends' (?) - the british company - versions.

It looks like that you've ordered from dvdheaven before. How was your experience? How about their international shipping? Appreciate it for any help.Man, this is some exciting news!

As I stated before (in the koeandvd.com problems thread), I haven't ordered from them but I sure know a lot I suppose. It is just boredom while at work that makes me do this.
I do plan on ordering from them. I have no concerns.

In asiandvdguide.com it is said that in IVL is going to release A Better Tomorrow trilogy in boxset... remastered ... I think I should wait first and see the comparison... If the Korean version's special features only in Korean language the value would certainly decrease in my point of view since I don't speak Korean.
By the way, any of you guys know the quality of ABT I & II from Deltamac?

Today I registered on http://www.dvdheaven.com. Their price is very good, I guess. According to them, because they received dvds from the production company directly, they can sell their goods with cheap price. I ordered one of A Better Tomorrow.
