Koreandvds.com Needs Your Help

I recently spoke with someone at Koreandvds.com and was asked to try and find out what titles you, the consumer, would be interested in purchasing. Mind you, it doesn't have to be on their site. They are just looking for some feedback on what it is YOU want to see from them. Any feedback would be great and can be posted here. I will be presenting this to them. Thanks in advance.

My only feedback would be to ask them to STOP spamming and to sort out their refund policy (which they don't seem to have as I had to contact my credit card issuer to get my money back).

I am interested in any / all Limited Edition / Special Edition DVD's that get produced, including US releases that get Tin Cases, different packaging etc

Their search function is not so great at highlighting them. If they could have a different section under Limited that would include these different editions that would be ideal.

For instance, the recent League XG has a special packaging. Although not limited in nature, it is different. Also, Equilibrium has a very different packaging style and so on.

A section to highlight these is what I would like.

Also, I would like to see (better) English translations for their movies. When you click on the titles, descriptions are more often than not in their respective language and if you do get an English translation, it is often poor.

In saying that, it is a good site though. Often my first stop on my Journey through the Asian DVD Market.

Thanks

I can't say that I have ANY problems with them. The best thing they did was lower their shipping prices. I'll order from them whenever I can now.

But I wish they would get Fight Club (DTS) and Mr. Holland's Opus (16:9) back in stock.

I just placed an order with them last week. My third or fourth. This has been a very good site, and the e-mail updates are informative, with good sales.

Improvements could be in the search function, as someone already mentioned. Also, I would have ordered "My Tutor Friend" and "A Tale of Two Sisters" from their site if I could have found them. Instead, I have looked elsewhere for these.

Good feedback so far from everyone. Anything else? Specific titles?

They are curious as to what YOU think would do really well for them in regards to sales.

dyerjp 02-17-04 10:49 AM

carry more r3 versions of american releases. sometimes the only place to get them with more extras or DTS tracks is from overseas retailers.

digitalfreaknyc 02-17-04 11:34 AM

Again, I think we need to stick with specifics for Bill's sake. Saying "we want more DTS" or "we want more american movies" doesn't give him something to tell the company. They don't MAKE the movies. They just sell them. And a lot of times, particular movies haven't even been released in Korea. So stick with requests for specific releases that we know exist, but they may not carry.

Am I correct in assuming this is what you want, Bill?

Bill Geiger 02-17-04 11:44 AM

Yes. Basically, I was asked to find out what people want. They have a lot of product that sells and doesn't sell. Obviously, they want to supply the products that will on a large scale.

I've completed one order from them and was very satisfied. I am currently awaiting Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia and Fistful of Dynamite. The info on their website is not detailed enough regarding how English-friendly their DVD's are. Fistful of Dynamite has 2 different cuts on the set but one is English language and the other is Italian with no English subs. It would be helpful if they included more details like that. Otherwise, I think their fairly speedy, reasonably priced and friendly.

digitalfreaknyc 02-18-04 07:46 PM

pre-ordered it last night as well...along with 3 other DTS exclusive titles.

Bill Geiger 02-18-04 07:50 PM

What other 3? I was just talking with them at koreandvds.com and I was told that if you want the Fight Club, order now. Stock may not last!

By the way Craig....I got your email regarding the Brazilian site. You were right, I should have ordered more. I was informed that 1-5 dvds costs the same amount (about $10.00).

Putting in an order tonight at Koreandvds.com. Gonna get the True Lies for $6 bucks. Can't spend an extra 33 for DTS.

would love to see some more region 3 , region 1 - based releases. Got my equlibrium and BHD the other day because it was just about the same price as it was over here. They did a good job with the whole transaction too.

Really cant say anything i want. More limited releases added and some other things i guess.

I don't know if I would jump on this. Let's see, the specs say Dolby Digital and DTS for soundtracks. Plus it also says there is a widescreen and fullscreen transfer. That is an awful lot on one disc. I bet the picture quality really suffers. Hell just adding a DTS track can hurt picture quality if the movie is long enough.

On another note, I have ordered quite a few titles from KoreanDVDs.com. I have been extremelly happy with them.

How long does it take for shipping to the U.S.?

Jump on what? If you're talking about Fight Club, it's a TWO DISC SET! And it says full screen in response to the extras.

Trust me. I know people that have it. It's fantastic.

The other 3 DTS exclusives I ordered were 15 Minutes, Basic Instinct and Total Recall.
