Obviously Fight Club DTS and also i would expect the Abyss 2 disc SE (Anamorphic???) both for the great pre-order price of $14.

I woud like to think people are also taking advantage of their 40% off Alto Media sale....the Truffaut and Fellini sets are nothing short of superb...and although i don't own it..the Herzog set looks like a nice set with 'Burden Of Dreams' included for those who can't wait for the rumoured Criterion edition.

Have bought several items from them before in the past and always found them to be very reliable.

I thought the dts track on Total Recall is much inferior to regular DD 5.1...

Yea , took me about 2 weeks to recieve my dvd's the other day.

Would like to see more promotions too. The spend 40 bucks and get the superbit demo (2002) is ok, but would like to see some other stuff too if they have the opition to do so.

Dunno.

Haven't heard anything about it. Where did you hear that?

Is the Korean Fight Club disc likely to be censored? The Japanese releases of the film optically blur out all of the quick-cut insert images of penises, like for example the very last thing we see in the movie. I know Korea is pretty strict with censorship as well.

The site was just redesigned. Check it out. Little more user friendly.

Sheesh. I hope not. That's one of my favorite parts.

Actually...it looks just like their all-korean site(s). Don't see a difference.

You always gotta :crap: on something don't ya Craig?

Slowpc 02-19-04 12:11 PM

I like the new color scheme and stuff. I like I like... Also feels a little bit speedier in browsing the site. I dont seem to find the trailers for some of the movies there anymore. One plus from before, but looks like i have to tab a bit more.

dyerjp 02-19-04 04:58 PM

craig,

i saw fight club in the theater when i was in korea in 2000, and it was the same as the US release.

I guess we'll see. :) Regardless we'll still have the 5.1 as well.

does anybody know if R3 Resident evil 2-disc DTS got better picture/sound than R1 SE or superbit?

thanx

KDeering 02-21-04 10:38 PM

Some Korean releases that I would highly recommend are Finding Nemo and Black Hawk Down, both look better then the US counterpart. Finding Nemo is quite a bit better and packs a DTS-ES track to boot. I also thought the Monster's Inc from Korea looked quite a bit better, especially since it isn't two versions of the film on one disc, but the DTS track is only in Korean.

Another good one is "A Tale of Two Sisters". Its a thriller along the lines of Ring and The Sixth Sense.

The R3 2 disc DTS is just R1 SE PLUS the dts track
The R1 Superbit is better in terms of picture and sound

I don't have any useful feedback to koreandvds.com as far as titles, just my gratitude for the fast 1 week delivery my first order, the Ed Wood Special Edition. Reasonably priced and well-packaged in an oversized box I might add. None of the other retailers mentioned on this forum have it.

Something KoreanDVD Can Do

I have brought about 8 DVD's from them, and they only thing that makes me apprehensive about the purchase is the Warning regarding CENSORSHIP. Korean DVD need to indicate on the Detail Section of each DVD whether the DVD is Censored / Cut.

KoreanDVD do email people regarding Censorship e.g. MALENA was only censored in Korean Subs, but Irriversible is Censored in English. This info shoulf be highlighted in the DVD detail Section. I would hate to purchase a DVD e.g only to find BLACK BARS / MOSAIC / CUTS.

IMHO this addition is essential. Presently I use DVDCompare.net to tell, but sometime the cust are not listed / unknown.

Cheers

digitalfreaknyc 02-22-04 08:13 PM

That warning wasn't always there. It was added in the last few months, if I recall. I agree that they need to be more specific as far as which titles are censored. And to be honest, they shouldn't even bother carrying them because who would really want to buy something that's censored.

KDeering 02-22-04 10:14 PM

If they want to improve their specs I would also suggest stating exactly what language each soundtrack is in. I was a bit disappointed when I recently bought Monster's Inc and found the DTS track was only in Korean. Finding Nemo featured a DTS soundtrack in English so I assumed they would be the same.

Yocke 02-22-04 10:14 PM

I wanna see them carrying Robocop r3. Just the first movie, not the box set.

As far back as I can remember, it always said the DTS track was in Korean. Check it again.

mrwilson 02-24-04 10:53 AM

I have the both of the Korean DVDs of 'Finding Nemo' and 'Monster's Inc'.

Monsters Inc has a Korean DTS track (DOH!)

Finding Nemo has English DTS track. (DTS-ES at that)

digitalfreaknyc 02-24-04 11:26 AM

For the english DTS on Monsters, you have to go to HK. They have a one disc and a two disc.
