I've still got Nausicaa on pre-order, but has anyone heard about how it is looking or details now that we are about a month away?

Ok, how about NOW, with only 3 weeks to wait?

One thing I read was they gave up stereo and it will only be mono sound.

From CD Japan:
"About audio tracks: According to Buena Vista Home Entertainment, they have changed this DVD's audio track from "giji stereo (pseudo stereo)" to monoral. They explain on their website (as of September 2003) that they have been developing a stereo track of the said type for this disc, but after repeated testings, they have determined that the original monoral track possesses a better sound quality, and for that reason, they decided to include only the monoral versions."

Just about a week to go.
Have it ordered from Amazon.co.jp for 20% off but ironically I'll be on a business trip to the States and have to wait a few extra days.
Haven't seen any reviews yet but will check around.

I wish I could read Japanese better - I just got something about my Nausicaa order asking me to do SOMETHING.

I used a translator, and I THINK it said I needed to be patient, or update my credit card, or something - so I went ahead and updated my order a bit, and hope that cleared whatever up.

Now I just hope they ship it out!

Upon further review, it seemed to be a message about the "limited first edition" including a soft cover case, and that it might take some extra time to get it - and to check your order, because if you ordered more than JUST Nausicaa, then you might see a delay.

Oh, and then "check your CC" in case it's about to expire because of this potential delay.

At least, that's what I THINK it said.

Got the same email from Amazon.jp a few days ago. Pretty much what Seeker said above. Also they can't ship it out too early as not to break street date. Either way, got my shipping notice last night (Nov 18) and usually I get it the next day. Just in time for the three day weekend here in Japan.

Received it last night but didn't have time to take a look at it. I'll do that tonight. the softcase is nice but pretty big. Won't be able to keep in the softcase and put it on the shelf with other DVDs.

Is it a softcase ONLY, or is the "regular case" inside the softcase?

It's a regular case (two disc) inside of the larger outer soft case. the soft case has a zipper to take the regular disc case out.
I only had time to take a quick look at it last night but it appears to be a well-done transfer. It's only 2.0 but there seems to be a spacious soundstage from the fronts. The print was quite clean and when compared to Spirited Away and Kiki's I found it more like the newer Spirited Away. I'll be able to watch the whole thing this weekend and report more at that time. I'm pretty sure you'll all be pleased with the transfer. Enjoy.

2 weeks!?!?!
I couldn't believe that it took less than a week to get my Two Towers extended from Amazon USA. Got shipping confirmation last Sunday and received it yesterday (Friday here in Japan).
So maybe it'll get there a bit faster.

I don't even have MY TTT:EE from Amazon yet - and it was shipped FROM Kansas TO Kansas on 11/17.

I think it is lost.

Sure hope that doesn't happen with Nausicaa!

On the R1 Spirited Away disc it was mentioned in one of the interviews that Disney owns all the rights to Ghibli films in the U.S. so I'm assuming they will eventually release it. I'm still waiting for a decent R1 release of My Neighbor Totoro.
