I wont even bother getting excited about this 'til I read a review and comparison to the previous version. I thought the original was a little drawn out but the story came through clearly to me so im at least interested to see what is added that people seem to think will make the movie better.

On a related note, there's a good article in this week's Time Out New York about Miramax squatting on films they've purchased.

It's out and it's free on EVD

...If you bought an EVD player.

Does the article include what Miramax's plans on regarding the release of "Infernal Affairs" I caught Part one and two this last past weekend at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and was blown away.

I have faith that some ambitious chinese bootlegger will find a way to rip the data off an EVD and port it to the dvd.

I dont event think this exists, no one has even a picture of this up if its in such high demand? (To tell the truth, I think the demand is from a lot of people who probably never even saw the original and just heard about the extended version and like to bitch)

I'd be happy just to see a picture of an EVD player. Anyone selling these yet?

EVD, Enhanced Versatile Disc

This player is made by Shinco.

EVD 1920 * 1080i, mpeg2 encoding (same as dvd)
This player can also play DVD, VCD.

Price is about $250 US dollar in China. Those 5 EVDs come free with the player.

I found a bunch of similar auctions, this isnt the direcotrs cut, just some giveaway, the person is adding the minutes of the special on the disc to the total running time.

I'm not a Chinese speaker. I just took a bunch of Chinese courses back in college. From what I can read:

Top Left: Ying Xiong/Hero (Extended edition)

Top and covered: Seems to be demo/instruction evds. The header says Shinco Xin Ke (New from Shinco?)

Bottom Left: He Dong Shi Hau - Lion's Roar from the East River. Word by word translation is "River East Lion Roar". Anyone know what movie is this? My brief search through IMDB didn't find a match.

Bottom Right: Hei Xia 2 - Black Knight 2 maybe Black Mask 2?

Native speaker, please step in and correct this mess

Answer to couple questions above

mrwilson: This player is for sale in retail stores in China now. So it's already "street". Dont' think it will be available in US anytime soon.

isamu: although it use same encoding as dvd (mpeg2), it doesn't mean current dvd softwares can read it on computer (different resolution), powerdvd can't play this disc.

brombie: you can find "Lion's Roar from the East River" on www.yesasia.com, and bottom right is black mask 2.

trigger, the "underworld" dvd didn't come with this player, it's a dvd disc, not evd. These photos are taken by Yesun, I don't know him personally.

This player isn't selling well in China, because of lack of software. Beside these 5 evds come with player, there's no other evd available currently. But it's said there will be one hundred evds released in next couple months, we will see.

No need to sell them in the US, I'm just waiting for them to go on sale in HK.

Underworld is available in a Legit R3 DTS edition. Waiting for mine to ship in fact.
