battle royale PAL TIN

Hi!
I have a question about the BATTLE ROYALE [ DIRECTOR'S CUT 2-DISC TIN PAL] version.
Are the DVDs single layered or dual layered?
I'm asking specifically about the special TIN packaged version (some of the versions are single, while others are dual, hence the reason i'm being so specific).
If anyone is lucky enough to own this collectable TIN version, please let me about the layering of the 2 DVD's.
Much appreciated...
Thanks in advance.

PS: btw, i've posted this exact message in another forum. I wasn't sure how to move my original. If i broke a forum rule, i'm sorry.

I believe it is dual layered. The tartan NTSC disc is single layered though.

but are BOTH discs dual layered? Or is it just the special DVD that is?
I heard that its possible that the movie DVD is single layered, and the special is dual layered.
Anyone know for sure?
thanks.

Not sure about the second disc of the Collectors tin...i haven't had chance to check the 'extras' disc out yet and there is absolutely no mention on either the tin or the amaray case inside whether it is dual-layered or not.
What i can tell you is that disc 1 the main feature is a single sided SINGLE layered disc.

If you don't own a version of 'Battle Royale' as yet and unless you are desperate for a 'tin' then buy the new Korean release from 'Starmax' which has a DUAL layered disc for the main feature which allows a fullrate DTS soundtrack to be used

Thanks for the info, Rich.
I'm rather surprised that the special TIN version would have the movie disc be single layered (even though I was aware of the definite possibility).
I've considered the Korean (NTSC) 2-disc version, but there were some things that rather turned me off. First of all, the special (2nd) disc doesn't have english subtitles (only korean), so unless I could somehow find the DVD subs for the special features disc online (I already tried to and failed), I would never be able to understand it the extra goodies. Also, i heard that the main feature is rather poorly translated, and since i'm a rather big fan of the film, the thought of significant flaws in the subtitles would bother me a bit.
I also heard however, that the NTSC special versinon has the best video and audio qaulity.
But because of the cons i mentioned, I really don't know if that's the version for me, so i'm conflicted.
Unless if anyone knows a way that I could find english subs online for the special edition 2nd disc? I've tried several subs search engines, but could only find vcd subs for the main feature.
Anyone have any ideas?
thanks.

Can't really comment on the Korean release..however the Tartan's video and audio are by NO means bad!!..(Seems strange saying that where 'Tartan are concerned ) and as you say the supplemental material is subtitled in english..and from what i've heard the subtitle 'font' is better in the case of the Tartan one over the Korean.

As to being more specific..you would get a better response registering on the forums over at:

www.bulletsnbabesdvds.com

where there is a forum dedicated to purely Asian films and DVD's etc
