Mr Cowherd, since you own these films, can you please tell me the aspect ratio of the films in this boxset? I'd appreciate it. I received this email from BlackStar UK concerning the fullscreen vs widescreen presentation of these films:
I am hesitant to buy from overseas if these films are not widescreen. That is why I'd like the exact aspect ratio. Jonathan.e's "safe bet" is not good enough reassurance for me. Thank you for your help.
Hi Jeffrey,
Thanks for your e-mail. The product in question is Standard 4:3.

The companion box set to this has the movies in their correct W/S ratios so it’s a safe bet that these will be too.
Thanks!

Hmmmm.
Twins of Evil and Countess Dracula look to be about 1.85:1. Haven’t had a chance to look at Vampire Circus yet.
Companion set contains Hands of the Ripper, The Uncanny and Monster. Very much the inferior set.

Dragonslayer:
all three are 1.85. I have a Malata 996 and all three seem 1.66 at
first but when I zoom out and it frames right at 1.85. This happens with some of the disks I import.

...but what does it LOOK like?
Sounds like a great set except for one thing: Carlton has produced some discs that are pretty mediocre looking, at best.
I have Carlton's A Matter of Life and Death and their Henry V, both of which feature pretty dubious picture quality that's not a whole lot better than video.
So the big question is: what do the films on this set actually look like?

Thanks Mark but I was asking about the other Hammer set containing Hands of the Ripper. It's available at Blackstar but not at Bensonsworld.
